I was going to post this in the previous Nuggets/Bzdelik thread, but it was closed.

I'm in Ft.Myers, FL visiting my folks and they have a NBDL franchise here. It's the Florida Flame and it's coached by former Celtic Dennis Johnson. The Flame stink (they're 2-12) and it's questionable if "pro basketball" can succeed here. The previous USBL franchise here, the Florida Sea Dragons, was coached by Rick Barry and died a slow death of no attendance. I saw the Brooklyn Kings run the Sea Dragons out of the building in 1999 at Medgar Evers College and the ref kept threatening to toss Barry for killing the officials. But he wouldn't do it because the 50 people that showed up paid to see RICK BARRY. Assistant Gar Heard spent the entire game trying to cool Barry off, very entertaining.

Anyway, the big story here yesterday was Cooper offering DJ a slot on the bench. They grew up together in LA and are pretty tight. I'm sure having DJ around would only benefit Andre Miller. Plus, it get's him off this sinking ship, brutal.

I hate to correct you on this, but the Kings played at LIU at the downtown Brooklyn campus. How could you forget taht?

Monsoon: Ted Arcidi's gonna drop by.
Brain: What a jerk.
Monsoon: He's buying dinner.
Brain: Oh, that Ted Arcidi. He's a wonderful human being.

Jesus, I could have sworn that was at Medgar Evers.

I remember Richie Parker and company getting the LIU gym rocking in the late '90s with that huge scoring team and their NCAA Tourney run in '99(?).

Who did we see at Medgar Evers? The Globetrotters?

I was probably the only one in Lakerland NOT rejoicing over the roster additions and NOT screaming "INSTANT CHAMPIONSHIP!" and you can see why. The boat's starting to sink under the weight of so many egos.
