Seriously - did ANYONE think the Fish would beat the Giants, then the Cubs and then the mighty Yankees? Man.
I just hope Pudge sticks around. And despite Beckett's arrogance (which I hope doesn't balloon even more now) - he proved that he's got one hell of a future.
Arrogance, schmarogance. Unless he gets hurt, this kid is going to the Hall of Fame. I was yelling at Jack McCeon in the 8th and the 9th, and he proved me wrong. If the owners nuke this team (again), they deserve a fate worse than death: living with the reaction from the fans.
There is no God. If you don't believe me, ask the Red Sox.

The owner they have now didn't "nuke" this team in the first place. A common misconception among baseball fans that REALLY annoys me. "Oh, they're winning now, but they'll sell off all their players again." What a joke.
By the way, as a fan since the days of Junior Felix and Jerry Browne, I say congrats Marlins. I would've been happy entering the year just to finish .500. This is a special team.

Pfft. If you're talking about who I think you are, he's not really much of a fan of ANYTHING.
And from what I hear, Loria's not gonna be able to afford to keep the team together. Gee, what a total shocker. But then again, they do have a lot of free agents (I believe 18 on their 25-man roster)... They could use Pudge, but ya think they can afford him?
This offseason should be QUITE eenteresting... I mean, when the O's are free agent players...

"...between the grime layer and the Seventies game show host hair, I'd rather rim Undertaker after a White Castle/Schlitz bender."
Wait a minute. The O's are players? When did that happen?
When do the signings start? That truly is the start of another season of hoping, praying, watching, cheering, cursing, crying and contemplating suicide. Ah, the life of a BoSox fan. :)
Josh Beckett is God. If you don't believe me, ask the Yankees (or what's left of them after Georgie Porgie goes nuts).
It was so hard to get behind any team in this series. everytime the camera went to Loria it reminded me how much I can't stand the guy.
I thought it was a bad move going with Beckett in Game 6. I would have rested him and save him for Game 7 but it worked out perfectly for Florida. That kid's a hoss.
Do you smell that? I smell a bitter Yankee fan. Makes me wish there was a way to give someone a -10 as opposed to a straight 0.

Urbina, Castillo, and I-Rod are FA's.....I'd expect I-Rod to be the most likely back, the other two gone. Lee could be gone as well. That's pretty much it.
gugs: They have money, needs, and permission to spend. I think the rumors have it that they'll be making runs at Vlad and Tejada.
NHS: Yeah, I thought so too. Figured the Yanks would win tonight, considering Beckett's short rest and Pettite's postseason. Then again, the local paper was getting annoying because they've been creaming themselves over Carl Pavano. He's from SOUTHINGTON, bah gawd! -_-;;; Just imagine if he won game 7.

And let me be the second Yanks fan to say the same thing. The Marlins were the better team in this series. They pitched better and hit in the clutch, which is something the Yanks could not. Congrats to the Fish.
What a series though. The Yanks put up a good fight, but Beckett (who said he's going deer hunting after the parade on Tuesday in Miami) was just awesome. Go Marlins! Woooo!
Yo, it's me, it's me, it's (points to self) P-A-B!
Wellp. I just saw my Marlins win in HOOTERS, of all places, and believe me, getting home was hell, what with the cars, and blocked roads, and honking of horns and banging of pots and pans and what-have-you...
The Orioles are free-agent players because, believe it or not, Albert Belle is now off the books.
And according to Gammons' latest piece on ESPN.com, Loria has privately said that he expects to have a new stadium deal in place by Christmas, and if so could easily keep the core of the team together. The column is actually a very useful read, as it outlines Florida's payroll obligations for next season.

Yes, many congrats to the Fish...and may I say, I called it as well. ;-)
I doubt the team will stay together, but since a big part of it was young players gained from the razing of '98, they should still have a good rotation etc.
And they had to start Beckett. redman crapped out...willis would need to be the lefty relief if needed. no need to throw away game 6 and job to aura and mystique in game 7.
Congrats Marlins, hopefully people will stop saying that you didnt deserve to be there now. And also congrats to Beckett for the WS MVP.
