It would be interesting if this had some sort of branching story, based on how you play the early matches. Sort of like an alternate timeline thing. For instance, if you have DiBiase win the title at WM IV, it changes the main event of WM V.
Are these the type of matches where you have to play as Hulk Hogan and meet certain requirements before beating King Kong Bundy the right way? Those aren't really all that fun to me.
It's been years since I bought one of these. I just want to play with as many of the options open as possible or just have quick mini stories that unlock things like the old games. I feel like they tried to enhance the gaming experience by giving you all the different tasks to unlock things, but to me it gets tedious. I spend so much time trying to unlock all the characters that I don't end up playing the game the way I want to and I end up just putting it aside and moving on to something else.
I really want an old school wrestling game with this type of roster. A super updated version of the old THQ N64 games is what I'm looking for, but I am old.
The only Legend they added is Eddie Guerrero. Speaking of Eddie, his match vs Rey isn't part of the 30 years. I guess Rey and Vicki are his only link with the WWe now. They couldn't get Angle or Chavo for this, and they'll never add Krispen Wha. Who does that leave involving Eddie? Too Cool, Chyna, Saturn, and Malenko? Test?

To advance to the next match, you have to complete a basic objective, which is usually simply winning the match. If you want to unlock certain things, there are "Historical Objectives" which require a little more attention to detail. Hitting a certain move, using a certain weapon.
So, say, in the WrestleMania X-Seven WWF Title match, you'd advance simply by playing as Austin and beating The Rock. You'd complete Historical Objectives if you smash him with a chair like 20 times before you pin him, would be my guess.
(Actually, now that I think about it, I'm a little disappointed that Triple H and The Undertaker's X-Seven match isn't in here.)
I, however, will also engage in some alternate history, even if I have to go outside the "30 Years of WrestleMania" story mode to do so. Randy Savage over Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania V would be a good place to start.

I'm disappointed that they didn't go with Evolution vs Rock-N-Sock from WrestleMania XX. Is there no 3 on 2 handicap matches in this? I know that WMXX was the only Mania for Goldberg, but why did they also add Cena vs Show? I know they will have the Evolution Theme and Titontron. It just that it was Evolution's only WrestleMania, just like Goldberg.

I've always thought that'd be an interesting mode to add to one of these games. Call it "Rewrite History Mode". Say, WM3, Hogan slams Andre, goes for the legdrop....and misses. You get control of Andre from there, your objective is to win your first WWF title.
Been watching WrestleMania X-Seven today, and I would've loved to see the Big Show/Kane/Raven match for the Hardcore Title replicated in the game. Hardly iconic, I know, but it would've been good, chaotic fun. Big Show throwing Raven through the window, the elbow drop off the stage, running Raven over with the golf cart, fighting through the crowd.
Vince/Shane would have been awesome to see, too. As would TLC II, but let's face it, that would have required them to get the rights not only to The Hardyz and the Dudleyz, but also Spike, Lita and Rhyno.
Given Batista's presence in the game, it's disappointing that they didn't include his World Heavyweight Title match with Triple H at WM21.

The roster seems more dated than usual this year. No Fandango, no Wyatt Family, no Curtis Axel, no Usos, no Bellas, no RVD. I'm sure some of those will come as DLC - especially the ones who've been in previous games and wouldn't need new models created from scratch - but still. Hopefully the CAW servers actually work this year and you can download other people's creations without it being a fight.
They had to finalize the roster in March to get the game completed, so some of these make sense, but yeah-- not having the Usos in the game is unacceptable. Their employment status has been consistent, and they were DLC in WWE '13.
(I doubt it, but) I hope Drew McIntyre has alternate attire and TitanTron in the game, so I can play him as a singles competitor instead of just as part of 3MB. It'd be a pleasant surprise, as I'm sure I'm one of the only people who actually plays as Drew McIntyre.

Maybe Raven is stengy with his rights? I've read some that he tends to think very high of himself, and maybe he demands more for his image? I've never met him so I don't know.

Raven did sue WWE about the whole independent contractor/employee thing. It didn't go anywhere (statue of limitations) but it's enough that it's very unlikely WWE is going to want to do business with Raven again.
Warrior/Savage from WM7 is the biggest omission for me. I just don't like that, out of all of Warrior's awesome attires, I'm stuck with his WM6 attire for the entire game it looks like.
Plus, there was a great three-year streak with Hogan/Savage, Warrior/Hogan, and Warrior/Savage where they all faced each other that I thought was super-important in showcasing the three biggest stars that seems lost here.
Also, I wish Austin/HBK was in there, but I understand that they had the Attitude Era in WWE13 and probably didn't want to include Tyson again.
Still, I have no real problems and think that's a pretty deep history to play through. I like that every WrestleMania arena is in there.
Originally posted by Tenken347I can't believe that this game has both Randy Savage and the Ultimate Warrior, but didn't use their match from WM 6.
That's probably because they didn't face each other until WM 7.
The worst part is that I realized I'd typed the wrong number before I posted this, but then I got distracted and posted it anyway without making the fix.

You mean, create 2-3 "bogus" characters, and then have them send your primary character their complementary NES game through the mail? I don't see why that shouldn't work ...
