Cavs get F Eric Williams, C Tony Battie, G/F/Stiff Kedrick Brown for G/F Ricky Davis, C Chris Mihm (now I understand why Gorman was correcting Heinsohn on Mihm's name on Saturday night), and F/C Yogi Stewart. As much as I hate to see Eric Williams go, its a good trade for the Celts. Battie was big money/long years/bad knees, and Kedrick Brown never was going to develop in Boston. Mihm provides a serviceable back-up center, and Davis; should he keep his head on straight, provides the Celtics with the third scorer with Pierce and Baker. If Brown develops, it'll help Cleveland as he can play on the break with Lebron, and Davis and Lebron didn't seem like they were clicking together.
Boston gets the better players, but Cleveland wins in the long run since it gets that cancer Davis away from infecting Lebron's personality. I wonder how Davis will feel being the definitive second fiddle behind Paul Pierce.

Manny [Ramirez] could show up for spring training with ice-blue hair, a "Free Lee Boyd Malvo" tattoo and a batting helmet made out of chorizo and I wouldn't be surprised. Hey, it's just Manny being Manny.-- Bill Simmons

Well supposedly, Pierce and Davis are pretty good friends off the court so we shall see. I did hate to see Williams go but talentwise the C's got the better end.

Okay, I've given myself a little time to cool down, and after watching last night's game (final score notwithstanding, of course) I actually don't want to kill myself anymore ... Yay for me
Am I still afraid that this deal will blow up in our collective faces? Yes. Am I still angry with Ainge for pulling the trigger? Of course. However, three things came up during last night's broadcast that I found interesting :
1) According to Mike Gorman, Pierce is good friends with Davis (which I must admit I did not know) and "had a lot to do with making this deal happen" (that one really through me for a loop; wasn't Baron Davis the one that Paul was supposedly going to convince to sign here?).
2) O'Brien didn't know about this trade until yesterday morning ... Not a good sign.
3) Walter McCarty "went to chapel" with Tommy Heinsohn's wife and was visibly upset about the trade ... Not really much information there, but it just made me chuckle.
Yes, some very interesting "soothing words" from the broadcast team that turned my anger down a few notches ... The big thing I had against this trade initially was the disruption of team chemistry; I was sure that Pierce and Davis were going to be at each other's throats about scoring, and Paul was going to curse Ainge up and down the court for ever making this trade happen.
But the fact that Pierce is not only friendly with Davis, but actually was FOR the deal to begin with (according to the announcers, anyway) changes everything! If Ricky can co-exist with Pierce and defer to him (while Dennis Johnson was on the program, he mentioned that this could turn out to be like how headcase Jalen Rose has deferred to Vince Carter in Toronto and made that team better), then he might indeed provide an alternate socring option that could help this team down the stretch.
I dunno, now I'm more willing to take a "wait and see" attitude, rather than thirsting for the head of Danny Ainge on a platter ... Oh yeah, I almost forgot - congrats to Cornbread for having his number 31 up in the rafters (where Davis can't get his hands on it, heh heh).

Another thing DJ said on the broadcast: "They said the same things about me when I first came here that they're saying about Davis." And if you remember, DJ had a rep them as a malcontent. We shall see.

First, I'm really starting to get concerned with the Walter and Tommy relationship. Its starting to get a little weird. As for Max's number 31 going into the rafters. Its about time. It was disgraceful that the fraudulent #35 is in the rafters for a player who won NOTHING with the Celtics, and screwed up the Celtics for 5 years with his personal decisions. I actually hope Ricky Davis climbs into the rafters and tears down #35 and takes it himself. The only fear I'd have if that were to occur is Lewis' widow trying to take over the building again to recite poetry.
