ESPNEWS has reported that Carlos Boozer has agreed to a 6-year, $68 million contract with the Utah Jazz. The Cavs took a calculated risk in allowing Boozer to test free-agency waters, and it backfired.

I wonder how close he'd have gotten to $68mil had he stayed in Cleveland like he was going to, but if guys like Blount and Foyle and getting $40 million it would've had to be at least $50 million, right? Because I'd say
Playing with LeBron + $50 million > Playing with AK47 + $68 million.

Looks like the Cavs were trying to lock him up for around the MLE for the next several years, and he is definitely worth more than that. The plan backfired.

Apparently Boozer had asked the Cavs to release him from the third year of his contract because he was concerned about his family's long-term financial future. As if making $900K a year is living in the fuckin' poorhouse.
If you believe what everyone else is saying (Boozer and his agent ain't talking), Boozer asked the Cavs to release him and pledged to re-sign with them for more money. But then an insanely better offer came from the Jazz and Boozer took that.
Just goes to show that you can buy integrity.
On a related note, LeBron James and Carlos Boozer are teammates on the U.S. Olympic basketball squad. Supposedly the two have been friends, but I wonder if we're going to see some bad blood between the two now.

The six-year, $68 million offer sheet presented to Carlos Boozer by the Utah Jazz may do more than just leave the Cavaliers empty-handed.
It could literally cost them.
That's if the allegations are true that Boozer and the Cavs made an oral agreement before the two-week negotiating period that started July 1, a violation of the league's collective bargaining agreement. If so, the Cavs could be fined, forced to give up draft picks and any team personnel involved suspended.
Originally posted by Ian Thomsen @ si.comThe Cavs say that no illegal under-the-table offer was made to Boozer because it was understood that the NBA's collective bargaining agreement prohibited the team from paying more than $41 million.

Yeah I realize that but BucsFan said that a title wouldn't mean as much as it would in Utah or Seattle, so I was using Seattle in my reply. Although it would be impossible for him to stay there since, like you said he got traded away.
