Look at all the cute guys on the weekend shows! All of the matches were decent to pretty good, not one was a mess (which has sometimes happened in the past), & all the "talking parts" were entertaining. What's not to like?

Spanky & Funaki vs Palumbo & Stamboli, in a non-squash with a lot of fun stuff. Dunno if they're going to be an ongoing team, but setting up Spanky with an ongoing story with the FBI can't be a bad thing.

Matt Capitelli from TE3 (Cutie, cutie!) seems to have come along quite nicely in OVW. He got a lot of time in the match vs the Bashams, & did good. (An excellent job for a rookie-baby.) I'm a little concerned about the APA inviting all these babies along to their drinking/brawling/drinking barroom brawl party -- especially given the slashy direction the shows have been taking lately!! ;->

This Rob Conway boy is pretty cute. (He was the hunkier of the Conquistadors on SmackDown earlier this week.) Not bad in his match with Hurricane.

La Res vs Garrison Cade & Mark Jindrak was interesting. Garrison needs a gimmick or a personality or something, but he's got some good skills. Rene really is much better than Sly -- it was a mistake making them so identical. I can't figure out what the thinking is behind that. (Same thing with the Bashams.) You can do a unified team look, while still maintaining some individuality for the guys. I found myself scowling at Jindrak. He seems to do well enough when he really gets into it, but if he's just doing basics, then he just seems to be going through the motions. The entire match is on TV, dear. You need to be "on" the entire time you're in front of the audience. (Wonder if he has that problem in other circumstances. If so, he needs a No Foreplay shirt.) Lotta nice mid-range beefcake in the match though.

Tommy got to win! Yeaaa!

Stevie (with Victoria) is great in his assumed role as "GM of Heat". His interview with Al was a riot. "Nothin' but Heat."

Rico, Nidia, the Bashams & A-Train -- I like what all of them are doing. Val trying to keep Rico from peeking down his trunks, while Jackie looks on knowingly. Rico managing to freak out Val. Rico getting the usual "Rico sucks" chant, tsk-tsk-tsk-ing the crowd, & delivering a "knowing" delivery of "No, I don't." I may be the only one who likes Shaniqua & the Bashams, but I do -- I like the gimmick, & I like them as a tag team. Orlando did good with A-Train, & A-Train did good by Orlando. Albert-Train can put on a good match when they just turn him loose. And Nidia has come along so well -- she ran that whole match with Dawn Marie, & although Dawn isn't that great a worker, Nidia really pulled out a decent match with her. (Al must be so proud!)

On the announcements front, Josh tells us that Matt Hardy got a broken nose in his match with Chris Benoit. As much as he was bleeding, that could well be real. Meanwhile, Coach & Al tell us that JR will be out indefinitely after the Kane incident. I can use that respite on Raw commentary.

I thought they were both rather entertaining shows.

I caught bits and pieces of both shows, and really liked what I saw. I may be forced to start taping the weekend shows.

The Stevie interview was one of the best backstage segments I have ever seen. In my mind, the pink fuzzy hat is his GM hat. I'm quite excited by his match vs. Goldust next week.

I also saw the Spanky/Funaki vs. FBI match, which I thought was much better than the camrea work let it be. What do they get film students to do the production for Velocity?

Who was Tough Enough Matt's partner in the match against the Bashums? He was awesome!

I think Rico is my new hero. I can just see it backstage, guys hassling him about is uber-gay gimmick and he says, "Yeah how many times have you been shoot defending law and order? That's right."

They said Johnny Jeter. I don't think we've ever seen him before, but he's an OVW guy. He's got a page under http://www.ovwrestling.com/ -- sorry, they won't let me get hold of a direct link to the page. (He's got a page & Matt doesn't? What's up with that?)

I think that's the problem right there. A bloody male wrestler looks like a real bruiser - atrractive in a rugged, manly sort of way. A bloody female wrestler just looks like she's been worked over by a thug - not attractive at all. Steph
