Well this is a huge blow to the Eagles as we only have Westbrook to fall back on now. The passing game looks good but without a strong running game I really don't know how far we can go.
Eric McCoo or Reno Mahe are basically the only two options left, and neither one fills me with confidence. Reno is great on special teams, but that's about it. I watched McCoo play up close in college (and met him at a few parties, but I digress) and he seemed to get worse as he got older. I know he had a great run in NFL Europe this Spring, but how hard is that? They need to maybe pick up a big bruising veteran, but I don't now if one is even out there. The Eagles drafted Bruce Perry this year, but he's on IR with a busted shoulder.
Gravity is a contributing factor in nearly 73 percent of all accidents involving falling objects.
We're damned thin at RB now, and I don't see Westbrook carrying it all year long. What I saw of McCoo in NFL Europe wasn't bad, but then thats what I saw in NFL Europe.
The possible FA pick ups that were banded about after Ricky retired don't inspire confidence either. Candidate? Pfft. Watters? Please. I guess we have to hope Mahe steps up or something.
On the bright side. 1 catch, 81 yards, 1 TD. Thats what you shut him down for Ray. Of course this week pre-season meant something ;)

Folk singers are always liberal pansies, but not me.....I sing for my fellow conservatives...care to hear "Shoot the Hippie out of the Redwood Tree" ?
Granted he could share his duties with Deuce last year, but I thought Westbrook did well last year. I believe it was his punt return (or was it a kick-off) against the Giants in Week 5 or so last year that kick-started the Eagles season. After all, that was the first game in their 9 game win streak, right?
With Owens causing everyone to fear the passing game, and McNabb able to scramble when he needs, Westbrook should have enough room to get 4 or 5 yards when needed.
(Plus, not that it means anything, but playing NFL 2K5, I traded away Buckhalter, and Westbrook tore up the opposition.)
Frankly, I'm more disappointed in N.D. Kalu's season ending injury. Is the preseason usually this full of disaster?
The Eagles are no longer my NFC champion pick. I thought this was going to be a breakout season for Buckhalter, as playing time + passing game would = big numbers. Westbrook isn't bad but looked very average, although he's probably better than any of the guys on the market right now. When the Dolphins are giving tryouts to the James Stewart's and Terry Kirby's of the world, you know there's not an RB to be had.
The most likely replacement would be Dorsey Levens, since he's already got a tour of duty w/ the Eagles under his belt. Plus, Reid likes him, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him brought in.

It was an 84 yard punt return in the last 1:34, in a game in which the Eagles offense could not move the ball to save their lives. If the Giants don't kick a kick-off out of bounds in the last seconds against Dallas, and kick a punt out of bounds in the last minute plus against the Eagles, they start 6-2 instead of going 4-4 and then collapsing.

I'd take a LOT of convincing that that would be a good move. Post Ricky retirement the Feeley trade looks pretty darned good from our point of view. Giving up what will probably be an earlyish 2nd round pick for Jordan seems excessive fromwhat I've seen of the guy. Still, needs must I guess.

Westbrook looked to have much better 'big play' ability than Buckhalter. He's a good passing option out of the backfield, can return well, and should easily average 4 yards a carry. The main reason we'll miss Buckhalter is he offers a more route one style of running game. He's not a battering ram like Bettis or anything, but compared to Westbrook he is. But if you asked most Eagles fans who they wanted to see get the majority of carries this year then I can pretty much guarantee most would have opted for Westbrook anyways.

Try being in Vegas for the KC game...with a Favre jersey on... Not only did I have to watch them blow a good lead, I also had to live with the ire of everyone who had bet on the Pack...as if I were personally responsible.
