I'm surprised that no one has commented on this yet. For the last few years (at least back to the Packers Super Bowl win), the defending Champ has opened their season at home on MNF. The notable exception was the Ravens, who hosted a week 2 MNF game in deference to the new stadium opening in Denver.
Anyway, the Buccaneers will open this year on MNF, alright. At the Eagles, who will be opening their new stadium.
That isn't right. Coming from a Packer fan, mind you.
Well, since the Bucs will get more national games than anyone, I don't see it as such a big deal. Besides, it makes a better STORY for the game to be in Philly.
I wish they made chocolate Advent calendars for WrestleMania, although I'd skip the Mark Henry day.
This just gives Gruden more incentive to get the team going. Tampa Bay closed out the Vet and we'll gladly make this new stadium our own
As for this being unfair. Unfair would be having this game in December in 20 degree weather. It looks like another hard year for a team trying to repeat.
I'm sure the Bucs will be crying quite a bit over this, all the while trying to keep dry their SUPER BOWL RINGS.

I, for one, don't care whether we're at home or in Philly for this one. The only home matchup we have on tap that would deserve such national attention to be placed on Opening Weekend would be against CRZ's Packers, and, well, it just didn't have the same punch after Green Bay got legally killed by the One-Man Human-Wreaking Machine in the wild-card round. Besides, it's not as if the Eagles have a chance to win.
Welcome to Lincoln Financial Field. Population: Buccaneers.
I have heard that Tampa's steamed about it though... good. Extra motivation :)
Finally, some good news out of Dolphins camp. The team's website is reporting that Chris Chambers has signed an extension that will take him through the 2009 season. Hopefully this is a sign that things are gonna turn around heading into the year.
