The Bruins won't sign Selanne. I have been watching the Bruins my whole life - way back to the last time they won the Cup. They won't sign Selanne. Nope.
He's Rolie Polie Olie - and in his world of curves and curls, he's the swellest kid around.
A bag of cash like they usually do. They don't need no stinkin' scorers! They can pay the minumum to muckers and still lose in the first round of the playoffs!

Originally posted by hayabusaI heard that the Bruins are talking to Teamu Selanne. I think this could be the pick up that brings the cup back to Boston.
What I hope happens is that San Jose resigns Selanne, and then they convince Kariya to move up the coast. Not likely to happen, but it'd be nice if it did. Kariya is never going to be realized for the talent he has while playing in Anaheim.
Selanne probably will re-sign with The Sharks, while Fleury might sign with the Flames. Creepy, eh?

I'm reading The Fourth Period here and a current rumor is that NJ might be interested in Selanne, according to The Post (I'm guessing the NY Post?). Then again, I really don't think Selanne will go anywhere. If the man is willing to take less money to stay in SJ, he'll probably stay there.

Well, if they let both Guerin and Dafoe go that should free up a lot of cash. Although the offer is probably not worth the paper it is written on, no matter how the numbers add up.
NJ, on the other hand, is a strange situation. The old ownership would never have paid for a fre agent like Selanne but the new owners have deeper pockets and are willing to spend money. The new strategy does not fit in with the past successes of the franchise and hockey is a different sport than baseball. What moves they make should be interesting.

I saw today that Guerin signed with Dallas, so perhaps we'll see Selanne in black and yellow. (Though I doubt it, Jacobs is probably thrilled to counting all the money he's saving.)
This changes the balance of power in the West. I was leaning towards a San Jose-Detroit conference final but now that will have to change. A second round matchup between the Sharks and Avs should be interesting.
