-- Thanks to PowerWrestling.com for the following recap of a Sports Byline appearance by Bret Hart:

During tonight's broadcast of Sports Byline, a popular sports talk show hosted by Ron Barr in America, Bret Hart made some very shocking comments that will be of interest to his fans everywhere.

While discussing the current scene in pro wrestling, Bret Hart said he was open to "one last run" in the wrestling business. Whether or not this means he would make that run in the WWE or NWA-TNA, it certainly is great to hear nonetheless.

The interview came across very much like he has already made a personal decision to make a comeback, and most people are speculating that his initial return could come in the form of an appearance at either WrestleMania XX or Backlash in April.

Bret did say however, that he is hoping to get back in the ring and be medically cleared to do so by July at the earliest, which is amazing news for Bret Hart fans everywhere.

Until we receive more word on a possible comeback bid by "The Hitman", we are going to look at this recent development strictly as an "unconfirmed rumor".

and thats all i have to say about that!

This pops up at least once every two months. I call BS. I saw the guy 3 weeks ago and while he looks good for a stroke recovery patient, he is still slow and certainly not in shape to wrestle. So don't get your hopes up.

Plus, when the rumors of a Bret Hart/Kurt Angle match at WMXX started, Bret quickly shot them down, saying he could never wrestle again. I think it would be best for him to try to enjoy his retirement.

I think it might be at least a dream of Bret's at this point since this is the first time he has said something about a comeback. he has shot it down before but this time it *supposedly* came out of his own mouth.
We'll see.

and thats all i have to say about that!

Nan i can put my house on a bet that Bret will make a last run at it.
Its like long loving relationship that suffered a bad break up and Bret needs closer. I can tell u now that the Hitman will fight Vince in the next Survive series.

Hmmm, let's say HHH drops the title to Michaels before Wrestlemania, freeing him to take Batista's place in the proposed Rock N Sock Connection match (which improves the backstory to that match immeasurably).

Now, you suddenly have a Canadian trained by Stu Hart going up against Shawn Michaels for the World Championship... I think Bret would fit into that scenario quite nicely, don't you?

Can't he have a last "run" without it actually being in a wrestling capacity?

All he needs to do is come out to his music, not say a word, and punch Vince square in the mouth. THAT alone would blow the roof off the place-especially is said place were MSG.

I always said to friends that you could easily bring Hart back in a managerial role and as a thorn in Shawn's side for a few weeks and get just as good of an reaction from the crowd than if Hart wrestled.

One last run in wrestling doesn't always have to be someone throwing himself around in the ring. And if played right, could easily be a nice, sentimental capper to his career in WWE/WWF.

Yeah, I know the argument - WWE/WWF never does this kind of thing right - but every once in a while they pull it off.

Randy Stilton from Canada sez:I, for one, would love to see Bret back in action even if it's not as a wrestler. Austin's too banged up to be a real wrestler right now, and he still has something to contribute. I think Bret would be great in a non-combative role, as a manager, or spoiler, or invader, or policeman. Bret may have been the best in-ring talent ever, but don't forget his long resume of experience. He has skills on the mic, too. He's a good talker and a hell of a presence. Plus, he carries the weight of the entire Hart wrestling dynasty on his shoulders. Working out an angle with Bret for WXX might also be a way of breaking Davey Boy's kid (who's lookin good) into the WWE.

So sayeth Randy Stilton.

The only thing Bret should do is give a farewell speech, no wrestling, no angles, just Bret and the fans, one last goodbye and then dissapear from wrestling forever. It's that simple, anything else would ruin an amazing legacy.

It would nice if tha farewell speech also involved some Hall of Fame action. Not just for Bret, but for Stu as well, and maybe even for Owen. Heck, maybe even Davey Boy. If they bring Bret back for some kind of farewell speech, I would hope they use the opportunity to acknowledge what the Hart family has meant to the business.

So sayeth Randy Stilton.

I'm pretty sure that would work in any arena in the country, but, I see your point. It would have significant meaning, especially among us that have been fans forever, when wrestling at MSG meant something.

You missed his WCW, didn't you? If that clusterfrick didn't ruin his legacy, one last run in the WWE wouldn't, either.

If Bret Hart wrestles again I'm sure it wont be for a couple more years. When the HBK in-ring return rumors started it still took his body 2 years to catch up to his heart. But, it happened, oh how and, has it.

I think one last WWE run would help to erase the horrible memory of Bret Hart in a WCW ring.
Back to HBK, I didn't think he would ever get back in the ring again for awhile. And, that's how I feel about Bret right now.
But, heck, I still see Ric Flair wrestle, and I thought he woulda retired ten years ago. So, these men never cease to astound me.
How about a DDP injury return. Is it possible? And, what could shock you more than a hooded man running into the ring with a guitar interupting a Vince McMahon speach. Only to see Vince get hit and the hood to come off to reveal Jeff Jarrett?

...or New Jack. That'd shock EVERYONE, especially since the only way it'd ever happen would be as a shoot.

I'm pretty surprised that he's actually considering an in-ring return, considering his age (47) and his previous comments about him being unable and unwilling to take another bump in the ring... my personal preference would be for him to make a final appearance on a RAW in Canada, make a final speech, and leave in a dignified, classy manner. No angles, no Vince, just Bret. Him being involved in a wrestling match would be disappointing, because his physical condition and ring rust would prevent him from putting on a truly great Hitman caliber match, but it'd still be something that people would want to see. I would, just out of sheer curiousity.

Page turns 48 in April, so I doubt someone of his age would want to attempt a comeback considering the serious neck problems he had that ended his career.
