NEW YORK -- Barry Bonds failed a test for amphetamines last season and originally blamed it on a teammate, the Daily News reported Thursday.
Barry Bonds Bonds is still under investigation as to whether he perjured himself when he testified in 2003 that he never knowingly used performance-enhancing drugs.
When first informed of the positive test, Bonds attributed it to a substance he had taken from teammate Mark Sweeney's locker, the New York City newspaper said, citing several unnamed sources.
I'm more shocked over the type of drug rather than the positive test.
Well, if Bonds has/had been taking GH, it wasn't going to show up on the test. Also, according to many in and out of baseball, amphetamines are as common in the clubhouse as athletic tape.
Rusty Shackleford is just the name he uses to order Pizza with.
You gotta love this guy. Yet again, it's not his fault. He didn't knowingly take anything. So I guess that means he just found some pills while rummaging through a teammates locker, didn't know what they were but said screw it and took them?
There was already a mountain of evidence proving he took steroids and now proof that he hasn't stopped looking for an edge. If the voters refuse to put in Big Mac, at this point I'm thinking Barry may not get a single vote for the Hall when he first comes up.

...and because he's suspected to be the most prolific of all identified users (which appears to be true with his "rummaging through the pills" defense), was the initial center of the Balco controversy, was the most obvious of all initially suspected steroid users in terms of sudden increase in size, is a complete and total ass to anyone and everyone involved in the sport and its coverage, does stuff like shirk responsibility going so far as to throw a teammate under the bus when he gets caught with his pants down...
I could go on, but in my opinion it's not only because of he's the best player we scorn.
I hate continually defending Barry because he IS an ass, however ...
He's already stated that he said nothing of the sort regarding Mark Sweeney - and didn't deny taking greenies.
I'm tired of hearing about Barry and his pills/syringes/creams. Why aren't people investigating Rafael Bentacourt and the fact he was competing for a closing job in Cleveland last year? He's ALREADY tested positive. Ryan Franklin still gets work. Juan Rincon got a healthy raise some time ago. All of these guys have been suspended for steroid use - yet I don't hear a damn thing because they're a group of guys who collectively are just smaller pieces in the engine that makes up a baseball team.
He saw an edge, and took it. Morally right or wrong (and we know the answer to that), Bonds took the same edge that anywhere from 200-700 other major leaguers no doubt are already taking. Can we seriously get off his ass and focus on the bigger problem (the drugs IN the game itself) rather than target specific people?

Well the reason he's being focused on still so much is because he's done more than just go to GREAT lengths to get steroids. He lied under oath and is currently allowing a "friend" to sit in jail because he won't just admit what everyone already knows(p.s. with Barry it's not "SUSPECTED STEROID USE", it's fact)
The man did steroids for years and others around him are suffering for it and he has the balls to keep getting an attitude and acting like he's the victim.
See with Barry, as we saw again this week, it's never really his fault. We outta just stop picking on the poor soul.
What awesome pitching staff? If you're referring to the Braves, everyone and their mother has said this is the year the Braves have question marks on their staff, and if you're referring to the Mets you might be insane.
