Okay, I've decided to set up a weblog, and I need suggestions.
Does anyone here run a blog, or regularly read any? Any suggestions on things I should / shouldn't do? Any know any particularly good blogs I can look at for ideas?
At this stage, it's set up at BlogSpot - the URL for it is http://amishthrasher.blogspot.com/ . But at Blogspot, it's missing a few features I'd like to see, like having 'private' messages there for friends or family that the general public can't see. Also missing is message feedback. Any idea how to get these going?
I use blogspot. Just started a blog up about 2 weeks ago. It's fun, but nobody really reads it unless (a) you tell all your friends/family about it or (b) you put it in your sig at the message boards you post at *hint hint*.
Don't feel you have to post every day, unless something happens that you wanna share. Also, I like to comment about current events- like I'll link a story (mostly in the entertainment world) and give my two cents about it. Just sharing your opinion. And I like to comment about TV shows I watch, a la Keith. His blog is the only one I read, so that's where I got most of my ideas. Have fun with it though!
I think this webpage adequately says whatever I could ever hope to about the subject. I have a LiveJournal, and it's very true what the Something Awful man says.
'...no one has ever written anything of interest in an online journal. It has never happened and it never will happen. The only thing that can come from keeping a web blog is drama and idiotic rants.'
SA obviously fails to note the great humor that can come from drunken blogging. It's fun for the whole family, next time you're smashed, go onto LJ and just ramble for 10-15 minutes before you pass out. The results are likely to be a hoot.

Thanks in advance, AJ.
AJ,
Good start. Edit your template and fix your links. Comment code can come from all over. Take a look at mine (see below) and if you like it, view the source and you'll see where the comment code comes from. I'm just screwing around anyway. Leaving the serious webmastering to the Zims.
