(Damn, that is a nasty virus circulating the web. Not only did my computer get it, but apparently I did as well. And I never get colds/flu during the summer! I haven't even watched this week's Raw yet, but I'm starting to rally, so ...)
Too much Vince. Too much Vince intervention. Too many contrived matches at Emperor Vince's whim. The gladitorial thumbs down. Is he going to be wearing a gold-trimmed toga next week?
Apparently we're going to keep skirting around this "various forms of abuse" topic, aren't we? I'm not very happy about that. The canadian censors are just busy as little beavers (arr-arr) over that whole plotline, aren't they?
Haven't been over to the main board yet -- have we determined who gets the pleasure of being tossed around in HHH's Stinger commercial?
Hey, first match of the night was the best match of the night! It's good when they start big, but better when they finish up bigger. (It's not me -- it's the codeine cough syrup. I swear.) Rey is so good! Billy did a pretty slick head scissors / headlock thing on Charlie & Shelton. They don't seem to have named the Charlie/Shelton trademark doubleteam move -- or if they have, they didn't tell Tazz -- we need to help them out on that.
Hey, Shaniqua gets to do more than just beat on her boys! That's a long way up for Nidia to get powerbombed from. I loved the Cole/Tazz exchange: "Tazz, she's a foot taller than you!" "Who isn't?"
Did somebody tell the APA that their backstage stuff is funny, so they deliberately phoned in a useless one just to confuse me?
Big Show / Undertaker was pretty decent. Look at that Undertaker doing wrestling moves out there! :-) Doesn't seem like we see Undertaker pull his straps down all that often -- like ever? Of all the people to be brawling through the crowd, Taker, BS & ATrain have to be one impressive sight. Yow! If I'd been in the area in the audience, I think I would have been nervous about any one of them falling on me.
Chris Benoit can pull out some interesting psychology. I wish it would happen more often -- I like that they had him get Eddie unsettled. "Where's the love?" Was there a match in here somewhere? If so, did we see any of it?
Zach getting squashed by Cena -- uhhh, what was the point? And who shaved Zach? Its probably bad to be that much of a rookie... (Although, if shave his head is the worst thing they do to him...)
Interestingly, I'm not as bothered by A-Train's "I know you like it rough, & I like women who like it rough." as I am by Vince. Its that whole parental problem.
Does Undertaker have tattoos everyplace that AlberTrain doesn't have hair?
I can see Vince getting pissed off at Spanky for splashing chocolate syrup on him. (All together now: "Spanky can splash chocolate syrup on me any time!") I can't see Vince wasting that much time & vitriol talking about it. Oooooh, Brock squished Spanky -- I'm astonished!
And speaking of astonishment, whoever would have thought that Undertaker would run in to save Steph from ATrain!?!? I was just dumbstruck. Apparently we're reserving the subtleties of psychological motivation for Benoit/Eddie, thus providing the bleedin' obvious in the ME story. Not what I think of as a strong close for the show.
I was reasonably happy with the first hour of the show, but the second hour was just all totally obvious & nothing but squashes. Without Kurt there, they don't know what to do with the second hour of the show, I suppose.
Hey, I was out most of the weekend, but I did manage somehow to catch Smackdown last night. What can I say that hasn't been said already, except that even though I could be rough on her sometimes, I have to admit that I've never seen Steph look that beautiful. She was really lookin' fine, and hey, I knock her sometimes, but I give her credit where and when it's due too, and this time, she looked the best I've ever seen her look on Smackdown this last week.
With that said...
I don't care who gets tossed around, the only real joy of a HHH ad is seeing HHH in it. I guess it's no shock to anyone who knows me when I say that HHH was the only highlight of Smackdown this week, since the show was low on eye candy. Gotta take what I can get! Poor Spanky... Since I'm going on memory, I'll sum up the show in one word: downer. It was all about Vince anyway. Like I said on another thread, I totally give the McMahons my love for all they've given me in my 18 years of WWF/E watching. At the same time, things have gotten so unnecessarily vague in these last two years, that I don't care WHO gets "abused", as long as it's not the people watching!!!!
The good wrestling matches were mostly too short, except for the first one. And the really boring ones, went on and on. If you ask me why I still watch WWE if they give me this much stress, it's because I get TNA for free (thanks to my brother's bud the cable guy). That about wraps it up.

First thing... I know, I know... Long time no post. I've been reading a lot though, just no time to formulate any thoughts anymore. Work sucks!
After 3 days, I FINALLY got to see Smackdown. The blackout caused UPN 9, which is the New York affiliate, to broadcast news all night. Then the Philadelphia station pre-empted Smackdown for the baseball game. I programmed the VCR to watch it later because I knew I would fall asleep before it aired, and I did.
Anyway.... The story of my quest to watch Smackdown was a lot more entertaining than the show was. A few matches were good, Tazz doing John Cena's version of the 'Harlem Shake' was cute, and Stephanie did look absolutely gorgeous tonight. Is it the bangs or the highlights? Who knows?
It was awesome to see Spanky back on the big show this week, even if it was just to see him be squashed by Brock Lesner. I can't wait for his run-in to screw Brock Lesner over at SummerSlam. Or is WWE's writing that easy to prognosticate these days? Oh well, back to those visions of Spanky and a bottle of Hershey's Chocolate dance through my head. So, I second emma there.
And Matt Hardy for a sec was good for me. He is just so awesome! No disrespect to Zach Gowan, but I don't want Matt Hardy to be the guy to put him over. There's that whole US Title out there and I'd much rather see him chasing that.
Thus, my pursuit of Smackdown as not totally all for nothing. And John Cena is starting to grow on me...
(edited by Ticamo on 17.8.03 2015) Ewww! I can't spell anymore.
It has never crossed my mind that a women's match would be enhanced by a blade job. And I dig blade jobs in general--I mean, I'm not, like, TURNED ON by them ;-) but I do think they add a lot to a match or beatdown that's meant to be brutal.
