i think i may order the webcast instead of the ppv just to get the extras.
WWE.COM OFFERING HUGE PACKAGE WITH BASH WEBCAST by Navdeep Ghali @ 10:28:00 AM on 6/23/2004
WWE.com is offering The Great American Bash on its website as a live webcast on Sunday for $34.95. This time around, WWE is offering many bonus "historical events" for free. This list of the free events is as follows:
- Ric Flair vs. Lex Luger, Great American Bash 1988 - First ever Bash - Bret Hart vs. Bam Bam Bigelow, King of the Ring, 1993 - Finals - The ENTIRE 1995 Great American Bash, with Ric Flair vs. Randy Savage as the main event - Hulk Hogan/Bret Hart vs. Roddy Piper/Randy Savage, Great American Bash 1998 - Undertaker vs. Mankind, King of the Ring 1998 (The storied Hell in a Cell) - Goldberg vs. Konnan, Great American Bash, 1998 - Goldberg was 99-0 at this point - Chris Jericho vs. Dean Malenko, Great American Bash 1998 - a great match - And a special interview with Ric Flair.
Free bonuses? Weren't the webcasts cheaper than the actual PPV before? Now they want to charge the same price for web and TV, using the "bonuses" so you don't notice the price increase. We'll have to see if the price stays the same next month and if they throw in any extra stuff then.
Plus, I hope you can watch those extras whenever you feel like it, because that's a loooong time to be sitting in front of the computer.

The webcasts start on Friday and I'm assuming you can watch anyime from then up until the PPV starts, but I haven't really looked into it properly.
As for the deal, yeah it's an excellent bargain for $34.95, but I'm still wondering why they're throwing in the two King of the Ring matches? I mean, I can KINDA see why Taker/Mankind would be there, with them wanting to get across Taker's mean streak or whatnot, but what's the need for Hart/Bigelow, other than 'just cos they can' of course?
Well, if they want people to pay 35 buck to watch the PPV on their computer, they probably need to entice people with all these bonuses. A good idea, because I don't know of anyone who wants to pay that kind of money to watch these shows on their computer. The bonuses could possibly change some people's minds.
The answer to WWE's financial problems...
Never 'Wiener of the Day', and is actually quite bitter about it.

I assumed the Hart/Bigelow match is there because it was from the old Annual June PPV and it looks like all the bonus matches are from years past June ppv's.
They started the price raising with Bad Blood last month. This may be their way to help make up for it, and to maybe test a little the eventual VoD service.

Perhaps it was the first GAB PPV, but it was not the first GAB. First was '85, with Flair vs. Nikita Koloff (David Crockett was your special guest ref). Bash '86 was 14 shows, with the Best of 7 between Magnum and Nikita, as well as Unlucky #13 striking for Flair as he lost the NWA Title to Dusty Rhodes. And, Bash '87 was throughout the month of July as well, with it being memorable for the first two WarGames: The Match Beyond.

An unrelated question: is there any site that has the cards for upcoming house shows? I'm thinking of going to the RAW show in Miami, but I want to know who's wrestling who first.
