So yesterday the arbitrator made his decision and sided with the NHL. So Kovalchuk is a free agent again.

Also the arbitrator is apparently investigating other front-end loaded contracts like Luongo, Pronger, Hossa and Savard.

Not surprised that Kovalchuk's contract got thrown out since he would be 44 at the end of the contract an conveniently the contract drops significantly after he turns 39.

What does surprise me is they are looking at other contracts that were signed last year.

Yes, it's only about 45 minutes away, but we didn't see any games this season. We didn't get to Portland to see the AHL Pirates this season either, though we caught one game last season.
