I gotta Gunn's sacrifice was shocking, but understandable. Goddamn I missed this show and man am I glad to see it again. Superb episode this week, with highlights going to the opening one-man meeting, the vamps' initial reaction to the alternate dimension sunlight & the kickass "S&M demon" in the basement.
Oh and, Harmony gets opening credit treatment, rock on! Damn late in the season, but rock on nonetheless.
The show picked up like it never left. It's interesting to see the recovery from Fred's death. The Wesley dream sequence was shocking to say the least, and Gunn's sacrifice for Lindsay was even more.
It's nice to see Adam Baldwin jump to Angel. (I think this means he's done all 3 Joss shows, since I seem to recall him appearing in the early seasons of Buffy.) Is there anybody from Firefly left to jump to a Joss show? =)
The new opening was interesting. Except for the group shot at the end, all of Amy Acker's appearances seemed to have been as Illyria.
(Re: Your sig. You're lucky just meeting Chris Daniels. I had to work next to that bastidge when he ran the gorilla position. High strung to the extreme.)

I'm suspicious of Lindsey claiming Team Angel has lost "two soldiers." At my count, they've recently lost three: Fred, Cordelia and Gunn. Makes me wonder if this is a slip or whether one of them ain't really gone.
My vote: Fred. I say she's still in there somewhere.

As for losing three soldiers, they DID lose Cordelia at the end of last season, despite that little pop back, they don't seem to mention her much... hrmmm.
And Wes and Illyria mentioning the dimension with nothing but shrimp... oh man. Good reference. And poor Anya.
Good episode with a ton of set-up, although I hate the WB. The opening promos mentioning that Darla and Drusilla are coming back? Mother fuckers, I'd managed to avoid that bit of spoiler-monkery for weeks now.

Fred was Smurf-ized while Lindsey was off in W&H's holding dimension, so it's entirely possible he doesn't know.

Lindsay likely refers to Fred & Gunn.
Fred's gone. She's dead. Although I'm guessing Illyria will eventually be more Fred-like. Gunn's obviously going to return at some point, as he's still in the Upcoming episode bits.
And I'm amused as hell about Illyria being annoyed about being called a smurf, even if she doesn't know what they are.

If Lindsay doesn't know about Fred, the last he saw of Cordelia was when she was helping Angel fight him, so he's probably up to speed on everything. Then again, he left the first time before Fred showed up, so maybe he didn't count her to begin with, but I doubt that.
Last night was awesome, and if the remaining episodes are as strong as this, the Angel finale may be better than the close of Buffy season 3, which is the high point, imho.
I didn't see anything in particular about Darla and Drucilla coming back in those teasers beyond flashback appearances, which I'm kinda glad about, cuz its always nice to see some old faces one last time before the end.
So now we get a new liason, around the same time that Jasmine and that Reverend guy fled from Firefly last year. It was awesome when he punched straight through the guard and then they cut to the shot of Harmony, Eve, and Lorne screaming in the window. I thought when lawyer-guy went for Harmony, after she was just put into the credits, Joss was pulling another Tara (put her in the credits and then kill her that same episode.) Was it just me or when he entered Eve's place at the beginning did he give off an Agent Smith type vibe?
That parallel universe with Lindsay as "Ward", as Spike called him, was awesome. Agreed that the shrimp reference was a nice touch.
I like that Lindsay laid it all out for Angel as to how everything sits. It explains why Giles and co. have been so adversarial. This episode was written after finding out about cancellation, right? "Not an apocalypse -- THE apocalypse" indeed. It makes sense that W&H would make sure the apocalypse would happen on their timetable and that their timetable would coincide with Angel working for them.
So now it looks like Angel is going to lose everyone one by one until he can somehow fix everything. This is going to get REAL interesting.
Spoilers (from the teasers):

Who had episode 18 in the when will Connor return pool? Seems early to me, but DAMN!

"How many poles did you get?" "I got just enough for . . . ninja!"
Was Christian Kane mentioned in the guest starring part. I didn't notice his name so I wasn't expecting him to be in that episode, I'm glad he was though. They dropped Gunn, and added Lindsey? Man that's gotta be the best trade ever. Although I did like Gunn this episode for the first time.
My guess is that Lindsey seems to know everything that's goin on. So I figure he knows what happened to Fred AND knows what happened to Cordelia and probably even knew she was actually dead (or dying or whatever she was) last time they met. And he probably knew that she was in the whole coma thing too. After all he did have Eve, she's probably been feeding him information about the whole Angel clan. So I'm guessing he is counting her and he knows something about either Fred or Gunn that we don't know.
And then there's also the whole thing about Spike being welcomed to "the team".
I was interested in how they were going to bring back Darla and Drusilla, the commercial did just show them flashbacks though, so maybe that's their only part. It would be interesting for them to play some part in the end though. Of course last time we saw Darla she was a good guy...err...ghost, or whatever. Drusilla as far as we know is still bad.
The Connor return is kind of soon, but they don't have much choice, the show is about to end. I was too crazy about Connor's first run, but I'm actually glad to see him just return because it just shows that something big is about to go down.

He WAS mentioned in the credits as a "Special Guest Star" if I remember correctly.
And has Darla ever been back since she was staked and Connor was... born? I don't remember seeing her, although I did miss the beginning of Season 4.
She appeared in "Inside Out" (I think) as an emmissary from the PTB, when Connor was going to kill a girl in order to annoint he and Cordy's "baby" with pure blood. Other than that, though, not a peep.
Also....
SPOILER....
Not sure if the preview showed this, but Connor's the only old face back next week. SAHJAN, BABY. Always wanted to see more of that guy.
Originally posted by AngryJohnnyWas that shrimp reference a Silder or a Hitchhiker reference? I've been debating that with myself all day.
It was a reference to a conversation that took place between Anya and Tara on an episode of Buffy. I believe Anya referred to a dimension entirely lacking shrimp... although I'm not entirely sure.
The way things are going, the only week Wesley won't get more badass is the one where he dies, and even then, I doubt that would stop him. Its so amazing to look at him and think back to the doofy uptight wanker the Council sent to replace Giles and not only realize they are the same man, but that the transition over the years has made sense. If this Wesley had shown up in Sunnydale way back when, the Mayor would have been dead that very day (even with invulnerability).

From Season 4, Episode 22, "Superstar" (where Jonathan casts a spell that makes him the best at everything retroactively):
Anya: "Sure, alternate realities. You could uh, could have like a world without shrimp. Or with, you know, nothing but shrimp."
-I marked out like a pansy girl for the shrimp line. That was one of my favorite Buffy digressions ever.
-I liked the episode, so I hate to be hatin', but I'm just not getting into the Illyria/Wesley interaction. The verbal dance around "What is Earth/What is human?" has been played to death on Buffy AND Angel. This isn't adding anything. Wesley's "joke" was a good example of a "bad" digression.
-I don't think that Gunn is done. He showed up in the basement during the previews, and I imagine that he'll be getting out somehow (Maybe Wes can replace him?). I get that Lindsey was able to accept the "Suburb life", but couldn't they get a different kid for poor Gunn?
- Lindsey's line about Eve's mortality ("So NOW are you glad to see me?") got me to chuckle. I think by the "Two Soldiers Down" thing, he was referring to Gunn and Fred. I think he was aware that Cordy's death and her upcoming departure had happened/were going to happen. If so, then he was just referring to the "soldiers" Angel brought with him to Wolfram and Hart.
-Poor Lorne. So depressed but soldiering on.
-Dru, Darla AND Conner next week? Sounds exciting.
Tonight I wanna ruin my life, I wanna throw it all away, In a spectacular way!

Just Connor. They said Darla and Dru are coming in the upcoming weeks, and then said "AND NEXT WEEK..." for Connor.
Caped Boy: Excuse me, ladies. You may remember me as the guy who came to dinner a few weeks ago with underwear on my head. My name is Keith Stat from Milbourne, New Jersey. State bird, the mosquito. And as you may have heard I am recently a crowned class B dungeon-master. So if any of you would like to play D&D today, please speak now or forever hold your peace. [He chuckles, and there is an awkward silence at the table.] Caped Boy: Anyone? Alexa! [Alexa gives him a withering glare.] Caped Boy: Maybe you would like to join in? We do need a druid, and you have definitely cast a level 5 charm spell on me. Alexa: In your dreams, douche-bag! Caped Boy: Douche-bags are hygienic products, I take that as a compliment. Thank you. [Keith walks off] Alexa: Ewww!
Good episode, but I have a question, what happens to Lindsey now? I mean I know Gunn took his place in W&H's Hell. But the Senior Partners still would not want Lindsey and Angel to have a "sit down". Does he help Angel defeat W&H, or does he just disappear or what? And while were on it, since Lindsey is free, whatever he does, does Eve go with him? Or what?
