My opinion on American Dad's third season premiere is the devastatingly backhanded "just okay." The "A" plot with Stan & Steve recreating every summer camp movie cliche - only in an African refugee camp - worked for me a lot better than I thought it might, although it was clear they had nothing for Haley to do - or were they trying to make a sly commentary on the UN? Nah, couldn't have been that. Anyway, it seemed kinda forced. The "B" plot with Roger & Francine playing a professor and his wife did NOT work for me. I kept waiting for the other couple to reveal that they were doing the same thing, but nothing happened there. Also, Klaus totally dropped through the trap door - not that THAT is a bad thing, as he's always seemed like a totally unnecessary superfluous character. Wow, why am I still watching THIS show? (Because it was scheduled between "The Simpsons" and "Family Guy" and you're too lazy to not program the DVR in one big chunk?) Ah, yes.
Yes, this DOES mean I'm starting one more thread...
I take it you've never seen "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" Particularly the film with Richard Burton and Liz Taylor. I was really upset with myself that it took me until the dinner party scene before I realized that was where they were going with it.
I think I liked AD the best of the three animated shows, which has become less unusual over the last few months. The characters and concepts seem fresher, especially in comparison to the already-stale Family Guy.
Scene: Mark DeRosa's brain. The year is 2005. Part of Mark DeRosa's brain: Come on, another position change? One day it's second base, the next day right field, now it's third? Why, I oughta go into Buck's office and throw his talking fish on the floor! Other part of Mark DeRosa's brain: Hold on, other part of the brain. We're making $500,000 this year. Last year we made $725,000. All for playing a damn kids' game. This is, as they say in Brainland, a no-"us"-er. We're not going to complain. Part of Mark DeRosa's brain: You're right, dude. Let's go back to looking at this crazy porn Teixeira gave us!
Unlike Zed, I actually preferred the "B" plot, though constantly seeing the refugees (and others for that matter), wearing "E!" t-shirts was hilarious.

Haha, well. Little did I know you would ever benefit from the Elizabeth Taylor oeuvre. I sense a Suddenly, Last Summer reference could be on the horizon, you should prepare for that. I do think I made you watch part of the TV biopic with Sherilyn Fenn once, though. William McNamara was a good Monty!
This is pretty much how those scenes played out last night: Me: HAhahahahahahaha Chris: "..."
Man, I love American Dad no matter what. I am biased. I thought the stuff with Roger and Francine was priceless. The line about her uterus swimming with syphallus...great comedy.
Rusty Shackleford is just the name he uses to order Pizza with.
