I read an article today that compared this storyline superficially to Kraven's Last Hunt, where the villain "killed" Peter and then took his place being Spider-Man.

I picked up the 2nd printing today. It's a "Variant Edition" with Doc Ock posing like McFarlane-era Spidey.
$8 would indicate that it's a "double length" comic, but I saw two back-up stories that probably no one cares about, a thumbnail gallery of the 700 issues of Amazing, and a long letters section with pics of Stan Lee designed to make a reader teary-eyed. The main story should have been a bit longer.
Oh, well, at least I have a digital redeemable code.
