Does this seriously bother people? It;s the Chipmunks. They were a one-note novelty act when they were first created, so what's the problem with updating them to sqeeze out a few more bucks? Sure, it's stupid, but then so were the originals.
To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow

You obviously never owned Chipmunk Punk or you would take that back. I hurt for you.
TESTIFY!
Great album. The version of the Knack's "Frustrated" alone is worth the price of admission.
This is the second time that the Chipmunks have undergone a total makeover. (The original drawings on record sleeves were very different from the animated version.) They've had more plastic surgery than any other pop star--except for Michael Jackson, of course!
I don't like it but it's not nearly as bad as ruining Garfield...twice. So now that I've come to grips with that it doesn't really bother me that these other inferior shows are being remade. I do feel sorry for Jason Lee though, if this is the only work he can get then this is a sad, sad world we live in.

It's kinda hard to ruin something that is already bland and has no soul. Garfield is like the worst comic strip, only slightly better then Cathy, and NO ONE likes Cathy.

Actually, if you've seen the EXCELLENT trailer for UNDERDOG, you will notice Mr. Lee does the titular hero's voice in it, and when he says "There's no need to fear, Underdog is here!", I sware to god, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up and I might have came in my pants... it is gonna be THAT DAMN GOOD!
Poor Jason Lee. He must have to make this as a favor to someone he owes big.
Yeah, it should, but we don't live in Shouldland! Ah, Shouldland, where clean-cut kids cruise Shouldland Boulevard, and the Shouldland High football team gets their optimistic asses kicked by their crosstown rival, Reality Check Tech.

'Marmaduke' is the worst pile of shit. Seriously.
Take a look at it sometime.
Why do I have a feeling of deja vu? I feel like this topic has come up before.
I had completely forgotten about the Underdog movie coming up. Meaning Alvin and the Chipmunks may not even be the worst CGI junkfest children's show adaptation of the year! Suddenly, Alvin and the Chipmunks doesn't sound so bad.
No, wait, yes it does.
The Wisdom of Homsar: DaAaAa, these Easter pants are gettin' way too tight!
Every comic strip that is more than 30 years old and still being written (or is now being written by a new author) sucks. While Charles Schultz was alive, Peanuts was the only exception.
This includes Alley Oop, Andy Capp, Animal Crackers, Apartment 3-G, Archie, B.C., Barney Google and Snuffy Smith, Beetle Bailey, Blondie, Brenda Starr, Broomhilda, Cathy, Crankshaft, Crock, Dennis the Menace, Dick Tracy, Doonesbury, Flash Gordon, For Better Or For Worse, Frank and Ernest, Funky Winkerbean, Garfield, Gasoline Alley, Gil Thorp, Grin and Bear It, Hägar the Horrible, Hazel, Heathcliff, Herman, Hi and Lois, Judge Parker, Little Orphan Annie, Love Is…, Mark Trail, Marmaduke, Mary Worth, Nancy, Pluggers, Popeye, Prince Valiant, Rex Morgan, M.D., Shoe, Tank McNamara, Tarzan, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Better Half, The Born Loser, The Family Circus, The Katzenjammer Kids, The Lockhorns, The Phantom, The Wizard of Id, They'll Do It Every Time, and Ziggy.
And frankly most of the ones that were started in the 1980s are starting to get stale.

I like Cathy. I don't think anyone really likes Family Circus.
The Chipmunks poster is dreadful.
I believe Funky Winkerbean is still penned by the original author.
I've seen EIGHT movies so far this year: Because I Said So - (2*); Borat - (5*); Children Of Men - (4*); Fantastic Four 2 - (4.5*); Knocked Up - (4*); The Last Mimsy - (4*); Shrek The Third - (3*); Spiderman 3 - (3.5*)

Quite possibly the most unnerving thing I've heard in all my years.
Did you guys watch a different trailer than I saw? This thing looks so amazing I want to cry. I haven't been so excited by the visual look of a movie since Sin City. I wish it came out tomorrow.
