So, I haven't created a league, because I wanted to ask a question first. One of the two W leagues last year I was commissioner of, and I was wondering if the teams who participated in that league would like to renew it and make it a keeper league, meaning each player gets to designate one player from last year's team that they can keep before the draft for this season. If not all the people who participated last year want to join again this year, I could, like, randomly assign their roster to new players who could pick one person to take. Or if there are alternatives to solving that problem, I can hear suggestions.
Anyway, here are the teams involved in the league in question:

If you don't mind, post in this thread or send me a private message if you have an opinion on this, and if there seems to be enough interest I'll renew the league in a week or two and you should get an email about choosing a player to hold onto.
There's no penalty - every team just picks one player from their roster from last year that they get to keep, then we just draft the remaining players like normal. I assume you can change your team name, you can do that midseason if you want to. Between the four people who have posted in this thread, including me, and three people who have messaged me, that's already almost a majority, so sometime this week I'll just renew the league, and you'll get an email at the address you used to register last year, and as part of the registration you'll designate your player.
I'll create the league this week and that will give everyone enough time to sign up and then we can find replacements if there's anyone who doesn't want to participate this year.
OK I went ahead and renewed the league. You should have received emails about it.
So I was a bit wrong about the procedure. Here's what will happen:
1) Through the link in the email, renew your team from last year 2) Once on the league page, go to your "my team" tab, and near the top you will see a link that says keepers, click it. 3) Select one player to keep, and hit submit. You have the ability to select more than one player, but I have to approve the selection and obviously won't do so if you select more than one. 4) You have until midnight on the night of August 16 to select your keeper. I will then approve the keepers, and they will be removed from the draft pool. 5) On Saturday, August 31, at 3 pm east coast time we will have a live auction draft for the remaining players.

In a couple of weeks, I will cancel their invitations to renew and invite others who weren't in the league last year to take over their teams and choose a player as a keeper.
OK, the three remaining teams that haven't joined have had their invitations revoked, so if there's anyone else interested in joining, here's your chance!
Teams that sign up now will be randomly assigned to one of the three open roster spots and can choose a keeper player from those rosters. The deadline to have your keeper player is August 16, and on August 31 we will have an auction draft for the remaining players.
It seems Yahoo has changed the mechanism for signing up for private leagues though, it's no longer just clicking a link and entering a password. Unless somebody else knows something I don't, the only way I can find for others to sign up is to give me the email address (in a private message is fine) you will use to play and have me send you an invitation.
Awesome Wpob, thanks, invite sent! You'll take over one of the other three teams, so it will already be named when you accept the invite, but you can change it to whatever name you want by clicking on the link that says edit team settings under the My Team tab.
Uhm... shit. I've been really busy with the new job and forgot to check this, although I did see the invite. I was Sons of Danny Kanell, and if I can get back in, I'd love to do so.

This is your friendly reminder that you have until midnight eastern on the night of next Friday to make your keeper pick. If you don't have a pick in by then, or if you make more than one keeper pick, you will just not get a keeper player.
I didn't come back to this site in time and this I understand getting kicked out. But I have to say that I'm glad you did it that way with the keepers. I would always wonder year by year how much "money" I would have to spend to get Aaron Rodgers every year. And yes, I would have kept him as my pick. Have fun this year and hopefully I can jump back in next year.
