Meltzer reports that Allen Coage, better known as Bad News Allen and Bad News Brown has passed away at the age of 63. Cause of death is reported as a heart attack.
I just bought his action figure and was remembering how awesome he was. He was like something out of the Attitude era way back in 88. He'd have been a main-eventer a decade later, I swear.
Ever since I grew up watching the Stampede Wrestling, Bad News Allen was one of my favourites. He owned doing commentary on the revived Stampede Wrestling during their brief return.
This is sad news. He definitely was one of the more under appreciated heels in the late 80s WWF. If he was 63, that means he was in his early to mid 40s during his run there. I had no idea he was that old.
After watching old footage of him now, it is eerie how much of a template he was for the Stone Cold character from around 96-97.
RIP
Dean! Have you been shooting dope into your scrotum? You can tell me! I'm hip!
I met him once. He was a classy, classy person. He was promoting wrestling shows in Calgary with Rick Bogner at the time...and was genuinely happy that people remembered his WWF work.
I'll miss him.
I've seen TWO movies so far this year: Because I Said So - (3*); Borat - (5*)
This is sad news for me. The aforementioned WM IV moment is still a great one for me, too. And then of course I could never forget when Piper painted himself half black in a match against him (I think at a Summerslam).
If anyone is interested, his interview with RF shoot videos is pretty awesome stuff. He has great stories about his judo career, andre, early WWF and Stampede. It's been one of the few shoot videos I've really enjoyed.
I remember him most for the matches with Bret Hart, smashing the trophy at the end of match when getting double crossed, Roddy Piper, the blackening up half of his body supposedly to take away the black vs white situation and Jake Roberts, Damien vs the sewer rats on the line.

This is a huge loss. I grew up watching Bad News Allen feud with the Harts on Stampede. I met him once, he was very classy and passionate about the sport. I can't imagine how many wrestlers learned from him in the ring. RIP Bad News.
Whatcha gonna do when Mahkan-mania runs wild all over you?
I LOVED his character right after he smashed the trophy at WMIV. He was the first heel I cheered for and brought signs for at his matches. I even had his picture on my birthday cake at one point. He just didn't care about anyone or having a tag partner. Sorry he couldn't have had a longer career in the WWF/E.
Michael: I am a victim of a hate crime! I think Stanley knows what I’m talking about…

I agree, this is something I've just noticed recently and I'm glad to see others feel similarly. Perhaps a little too ahead of his time, but it's still a shame he's not at least a bit more recognized.
