Best part of the game was Dallas Stars goalie Marty Turco on commentary the whole 3rd period while playing goalie. They also had Brodeur on commentary during the 2nd period but his mic got destroyed by the puck on a Sourray slap shot goal.
Also got to give some props to my Lightning with Marty St Louis getting the first ever Tampa Bay goal in an All Star Game.
Anyone catch the interview with Edge? They asked him which NHL player he would pick as a tag team partner. He went with the obvious choice of Chara.

Didn't the XFL do something like that? I think it's a brilliant idea.
I've seen ONE movie so far this year: Borat - (5*)
The NHL had a perfect opportunity to grab some new viewers by holding the game on Sunday, when the entire world is craving their football fix and just wants to watch someone get hit by someone else. Why, then, was this buried on a Wednesday night?
The best argument I heard is that the NHL, being a gate-driven league and a TV-rights league, did not want to lose home games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

That makes sense to me.
That seems awfully short-sighted. They could have had a chance to get more new fans (or more likey, "Hey, it's hockey! I remember that!"-fans) if the game was on a major network on a weekend, new fans who could've bought more future tickets.
Holy fuck shit motherfucker shit. Read comics. Fuck shit shit fuck shit I sold out when I did my job. Fuck fuck fuck shit fuck. Sorry had to do it....

No love for the All-stars pieman??
You know, I watch a lot of hockey with my kids now playing and wanting to watch and I must say that the All Star game last night and the Young stars game the night before were fun to watch. For the first time in a long time the player son the ice actually looked like they were having fun.
Smiling, laughing with each other, etc... All those things that one might think they would see from people playing a "game"!! We don't see that often enough in this Sports business world we now live in...
There's a World Container with your name on it, and a billion ways to go bezerk!!

But that NEVER happens in an All-Star game. Scoring is up a bit, I believe, but I'll lay my life savings on the fact that NO other game this season will end 12-9 with no penalites called. That's why I've never been a fan of this argument:

The problem is that you get those fans hooked on a 12-9 back and forth free flowing game, and then the one that they buy tickets for is 2-1 and they're turned off again.

I dunno. I think you're not giving a potential fan enough credit. Except for baseball EVERY All-Star event is severely lacking contact and defense, and I think the average sports fan knows the difference when they are watching an All-Star game. You can understand the physicality of hockey by watching the highlights on SportsCenter.
Any fan turned off because a hockey game ends 2-1 isn't going to be a fan, anyway.
