My Twitter page looks different these days, but today I noticed something for the first time ... random tweets that haven't been retweeted that, yes, look exactly like sneaky little ads.
Is this new? I keep who I follow pretty low, because I like to actually read through my page, but this is the first I'm seeing it. Pretty lame.
... or do I have to click an opt out box because of the new design?
There are tweet ads, yes. They are usually marked as "promoted"
I found it useful to "report as spam" the account they were coming from so at least you only see them once...
I found the new layout to be headache inducing for my english-speaking, left-to right-reading brain so I switched to the Chrome plug-in Silverbird on TVGugs recommendation... and haven't seen the promoted tweets since. Maybe that's because I'm using lists more... but it solved a lot of problems for me.
So, my dad and a few of his former co-workers have a bit of a startup going, and in lieu of rent payments I'm doing some work on their website. However, I need to edit the .swf menu they've got, and my web design skills are pretty much limited to HTML....
