Judging by previous discussions on this board about late night talk shows, I'm probably one of the only people here who watches Lopez Tonight on a semi-regular basis, but I was surprised no one mentioned last week's deluge of WWE superstars taking part in karaoke week (then again, I didn't say anything either!). I'm guessing since Lopez Tonight is filmed somewhere in L.A. this was a pretty handy promotional vehicle for The E leading up to Summerslam and RAW. This is how it went down:

Dolph Ziggler was on Monday night performing Right Said Fred's "I'm Too Sexy." He was... not very good.

R-Truth was on Tuesday night performing "Kryptonite" by 3 Doors Down. He was better than Dolph but not great either. Not surprisingly, all that incessant crowd panderingexperience performing his theme song helped him win some favor with the crowd. I would have preferred to hear him rap to see if he's any good when doing a legitimatesomeone else's song.

David Otunga was by far the worst. I mean, I can't sing for squat, but Otunga made me sound like Pavarotti. Clearly none of Jennifer Hudson's singing (or acting, heh) talents have rubbed off on him. Anyway, he performed "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going" which George Lopez said was a Jennifer Hudson song. I only know of the Jennifer Holliday version from the early 80s, but I guess Hudson covered it at some point (probably for "Dreamgirls").

The final performance was The Miz on Thursday. He did House of Pain's "Jump Around" which is sort of cheating because it doesn't require a singing voice. But I'll tell you what: for the first few seconds of the song I thought I was listening to Everlast. Miz absolutely KILLED it. I think I like The Miz even more after watching him go all out and make a fool of himself. Plus I think he was the only performer who busted out a catchphrase before his time was up, so bonus points for that. Very enjoyable segment.

Video of all the performances is available on WWE.com. They did online voting and the final vote went down like this:

4. David Otunga
2. Dolph Ziggler and R-Truth (tie)
1. The Miz

It's not a great sample size, but it looks like those could be charisma rankings too. I don't know if charisma carries over into karaoke ability, but it sure didn't hurt The Miz or R-Truth.

On a side note, Chris Jericho and Randy Orton were ALSO on the show last week but just as regular guests. I don't recall anything particularly memorable about Jericho's appearance, but it was kinda crazy to see Randy Orton in a full suit-and-tie and not all oily in his man panties. Plus he stopped scowling for the first time since the RNN angle. He even talked about how his little girl calls John Cena "Naked Baby" for no particular reason at all.

All in all, a pretty cool week of TV.

There's absolutely nothing Jericho (or anyone else) could ever do that would top Jericho's last appearance on Lopez Tonight during which he performed a duet of Total Eclipse of the Heart with David Arquette. Jericho declared it the most ridiculous segment in the history of late night talk shows and I'm not sure that anyone could argue with him.
