| #1 Posted on 2.2.03 0217.46 Reposted on: 2.2.10 0221.47 | What was the best sleeper hit of 2002 for any respective system? Since I've got a Playstation, stuff like GTA:VC and Tekken 4 came with a lot of fanfare and hype from the net and still turned out to be great games.
Basically, what games do you guys think are great but don't nearly enough love from the mainstream?
IMO, the two top sleepers for PS2 this year were Kingdom Hearts and Ratchet and Clank, awesome games that I only saw a few commercials for around December.
I'd have to pick Ratchet and Clank out of the two, because it was just more fun to play, and Kingdom Hearts felt way too easy towards the end. Promote this thread! | | Pool-Boy

I do know that there was some bit of fanfare around it (and the half dozen RPGs that came out around it), but I also know, if I weren't an RPG fan, I would never have heard of it. | rabidzebra

It's sorta like Romance of the Three Kingdoms that focuses only on battles. It was an ok game, but damn, it was just too hard. I mean, I suck and all, but hard is hard. (Now astrobstrd will talk about beating it and make me cry.)
As for my vote... aside from kidbrooklyn and a friend of mine, I didn't really hear anything at all about NBA Live 2003. I like it. | Smackfiend

SD4:SYM is the ebst wrestling game I have every played, and I only saw commercials during wrestling for it, so I agree that it should count too. As far as disappointments, I really did not like Medal of Honor that much, I know I am probably in the minority on that one. | Fazzle

Most people dismissed the game because of the license, the title or whatever reason. Most people missed out on a game with a robust hand to hand combat engine with weapons, interactive environments, and interesting enemies. Having a plot that closely follows events from the show and real voice actors is just icing on the cake for fans of the show. But you don't have to be a fan to appreciate the best 3D brawler in years. And it's no surprise that the fighting feels so balanced since former developers of Street Fighter 2 worked on this game. Look out for the upcoming Indiana Jones game that uses the same engine. | mskj

Fun game, but it felt like Resident Evil crossed with Gauntlet. I can't speak for the single player, but you can only punk out *so* many zombies with a shotgun before you need to move on. Pick it up at Electronics Boutique for $10 (check the EB games spam thread).
I didn't really touch much that wasn't highly touted this year, but on PC, Extreme Warfare Revenge kept me way busier than it had any right to. | kazhayashi81
