It appears that Thanks Dad Gaston has sold the Celts, according to a newsflash on CNBC. Hopefully the new ownership group will be willing to spend the money to go over the cap in order to help the team get out of the East.

Aren't the Celtics still a public company?

Just curious because I know the ownership structure is very odd.

I think only part of them is publicly traded. IIRC, the Packers are the only totally publically owned franchise in the country and its four big leagues.

I don't think the Celtics really have to spend too much more money than they currently are to get out of the East. They got to the Eastern Conference Finals this year, after all, and they figure to be just as good, if not better, this year.

So I can certainly see them winning the East. In fact, I'm pulling for them to win the East if the Pacers can't do it. (If it comes down to Pacers-Celtics in the East, though, Boston must DIE! LOL)...

The Celts winning the East is quite likely.

“Yeah, but can they beat the Lakers?”

No.

They traded for Vin "Ah FUCK, my pinkie!" Baker. Celtics'll be lucky to escape the regular season.

Apparently, all publicly held shares of the team will be "bought out" (I don't know the correct term) by the new owners ... Anyone here own any Celtics stock?

I also read somewhere (damn the fact that i cant find the article) that Bird and that Billionaire businessman will become involved in the ownership of the Celtics. That may be a great thing for the organization.
