| #1 Posted on 13.1.19 1046.40 Reposted on: 13.1.26 1046.43 | So wrestling has suddenly gotten a bit more interesting in the new year. With the formation of AEW and lots of title changes at Wrestle Kingdom, things seem pretty shaken up for the NJPW/ROH alliance. RAW and Smackdown have actually been pretty good the last few weeks (if the McMahons hadn't come out to make their grand announcement, it would have been so much better). Lucha Underground seems to be going ahead with a season 5.
I'm no Hot Newz, but let's see if I've got the whole rumor round-up: AEW wants equal pay for male and female wrestlers, and want to offer health insurance to everyone. Conspicuously absent from AEW's roster is Kenny Omega. Also missing is Marty Scurll, who is under contract with ROH until spring. Also, now that he has signed with AEW, can PAC (nee Neville) change his name? PAC is terrible. How do you even pronounce it? Is it like "pack" or like "pock" or like "pake"? This is Toyata Camry and Johnny Garbanzo levels of bad. At any rate, I am (hashtag) All In on watching him wrestle again. And the fact that I am still saying (hashtag) All In is testament to how good a promoter Cody Rhodes is. I don't think he'll have any trouble keeping the hype going until the first AEW event.
ROH on the other hand, is going to have some big problems. They lost several of their biggest stars, and most of their big cross-promotion NJPW guys. This does not bode well for the Madison Square Garden show. Word has it they are going to try to build around Juice Robinson. It's not the worst idea, but I don't know that would be my first choice.
Besides Omega and the Young Bucks, other people rumored to be leaving NJPW are Kushida, Okada and Ibushii. Rumors have been flying around that WWE is offering big bucks to both Omega and Okada. On 205, Drake Maverick has been repeatedly been talking about find new world-wide talent, really implying Kushida (please, please, please). Who knows what Ibushii will do? All Elite? WWE? Maybe be a cartoon tiger again? There is literally nothing that is off the table with that guy.
And of course there is WWE. They have the money and the power to do almost anything. All this sudden competition in the marketplace has been really good for us, the consumer. Who knew? RAW and Smackdown have actually had, you know, wrestling on them lately. Actually, last week's Smackdown was probably the best one that have had in ages. Three really solid matches with Ali/Mysterio vs. Joe/Almas; Usos vs. Bar; and Lynch vs. Flair vs. Carmella, and the other other bits of the show actually moved story lines and feuds along.
What am I missing? There are lots of rumors floating around.
Oh wrestling, you are such a cruel mistress. You punish me again and again, and just when I think I really don't care anymore, you suck me back in. | Promote this thread! | | Dionysus

Unless they get a few more Jerichos, they are going to have to have big feuds between the Elite core cast. I don't think they can go to the Omega-Cody well again. For the past year seeds have been planted about having a feud between the Young Bucks, so we should be seeing that heat up.
Is Adam Cole still on NXT/RAW? Would be great to see Cole-Omega finally happen.
I wonder what the year will hold for former Being the Elite cast members Flip Gordon and the Villain.
We still need the rubber match between Cody and NWA's Nick Aldis.
NWA and Impact both pushing Willie Mack at the same time has been interesting.
Speaking of Impact, given all of their involvement with All In, we'll probably see more AEW-Impact cross pollination. (Impact's off to a good 2019 start with their Moose v. Johnny v. Cage v. Cross feud.) | drjayphd

VERY much so. He's in the Undisputed Era which is pretty much the NXT main event storyline.

Well, Scurll's contract runs out in a few months but ROH looks like they're getting Faction Wars 2: The Factioning together.

That feels more likely and would be mutually beneficial. Impact has more people they can offer to fill those top card slots. | Tenken347

There are a lot more opportunities now as long as AEW work out in the way it could. I have no idea how it will work so at the moment I just hope that it will work and give us all another option. Personally I want to be able to see it here in the UK but guess that isn't going to happen at the start. I just hope that Vince doesn't give people who are pissed off and bored a few months of spotlight so they sign a new contract with him rather than go to AEW. From the current situation I expect Revival win the title next week and all of a sudden people like Ryder, Ziggler, Zayn, Rawley et al will become contenders and look a threat. Hopefully some will be brave and give AEW a chance and give them a chance.
