Okay, so I was pretty drunk when I heard this, so I can’t formulate any thoughts beyond HOLY FUCK.

These two changes make for a much better (AJ instead of Bray + goofiness) and interesting (Kurt Angle returns to WWE action!) card than it was before.

It also seems like really bad business to be giving away Angle's return match and the first ever AJ/Finn match with no TV build. There's also no way to make sense out of it. In the network era, it doesn't seem necessary to give all that stuff away - it's not like a whole bunch of people would cancel if they put Jason Jordan with the Shield and Elias against Balor again. It's a panic move and seemingly an unnecessary one.

BUT! I'm about as disconnected from WWE as I've been, so WWE blowing up their storylines doesn't affect me and I don't really care about their business. They might have never gotten around to Balor/AJ anyway. The changes are probably going to get me to pay more attention this show than i would've earlier.

As we're seeing from various sources (eg Sports Illustrated (si.com)), apparently Roman & Bray have been pulled due to a potentially serious & contagious virus. (We're told that this is why Bo Dallas has been off TV.) So that's the Why they had to do something.

If we assume that Kurt has been training for an in-ring return anyway, I'm actually kinda happy about having him join in a big, busy tag team match, with some other high-end (i.e safe) workers. That lets him get some ring time, without him feeling like he needs to carry the whole match, or otherwise overdo. I was at that "UR Fight 2016" (The W) show in March, 2016 where Kurt & Ray had a match. Their match was good! They're both getting old enough & beat up enough to not need to be doing this on a regular basis, but they both pulled out most of their classic stuff. I don't want Kurt to go crazy, but (as of a year & a half ago) he can still go.

I'm also much happier to watch AJ & Finn, so that's a good thing. They might as well go ahead & pull out both of those big changes at once, & see how quick they can turn this into a "don't miss" ppv.

[[I knew I'd typed here about that URFight show -- took me a minute to find the link]]

It seems to me that these were survivor series matches pushed up. I could see a shield + the two Angles as a team. I could also see team Balor vs Team Styles as the raw vs Smackdown survivor series match. Does the Club do a run in?

I wonder why they didn't want to pop a Brock appearance for a Brock vs Balor match?

I was actually looking forward to Sister Abigail vs Pumpkin Finn, followed by Kalisto vs Enzo and Emma vs Asuka.

The change of card is interesting and giving Finn a match where he can just work is probably better for his character than anything they've done for him thus far, but a bunch of guys being really sick is bad.

Also what is wrong with Owens?

This is a company that just threw together Shinsuke/Cena and Shinsuke/Orton together (outta nowhere) all of a sudden. They pulled the trigger on Finn winning the title in his first PPV. Lesnar has already blown through Joe and Strowman. They even blew through Reigns/Cena, one of the biggest feuds possible, like it was nothing. They were already doing this sort of thing for their regular booking so I don't know why doing it in an emergency situation is any different. The way I see it at least we're potentially getting good matches from it.

Lesnar is expensive? Styles/Balor will be a better match? They'd rather save Brock/Balor b/c it's two people on the same brand that could actually have a feud while Styles/Balor are on different brands so they won't have a feud for a long time so why not have a fun exhibition match?

I think it’s utterly insane to put Kurt in an tlc match, every bit as crazy as putting Bryan in a ladder match in his return match a few years ago.
