Like WCW and ECW before it, Vince wants the library.

Meltzer makes it clear this would be a shut down of ROH - not TV added to the network, but WWE acquiring the videos and assuming whatever other deals. WWE could bring over the talent, but WWE could already outbid ROH for anyone they wanted if they truly wanted them. This is not good for wrestling.

This would also cut off one route New Japan is using to expand into the US market.

It's not good for wrestling, but it might open the door for someone more motivated to take a shot at that second tier slot that would open up if ROH were to vanish and TNA™ keeps running things like drunken bafoons. The fact that ROH doesn't even attempt to keep the young guys with promise like Dijak and Keith Lee, because why bother, isn't great for wrestling either.

I'm hoping it doesn't happen.

Yup. Great strategy from WWE's point of view.
Either NJPW guys don't show up in ROH anymore (thus cutting uff that route) or they do in which case the network can say "Look! The only way to see Bullet Club in the USA!"

I almost wish they just buy the library so they can do awesome sets on Bryan, Owens, Rollins, Joe, Hero, Punk, omg..the list of ROH alumni is sooo long by now (and that's not a bad thing)
But stay away from the current product so it doesn't become NXT-2: Guys we cannot have on one show are on this show.

However, when you think about it..they're doing the smartest thing ever by reaching out to put Indies on the network.
Raw and Smackdown are becoming more bland. And maybe it's not just them but it's also for a large part me.
I am in a phase where I do enjoy good wrestling but don't care for the silly stories and promos and gimmicks.

So what better way to make sure I keep paying them by giving me the choice. Do I want steak this week or do I want cotton candy fluff?

Meltzer is now reporting that the COO of ROH has sent out an email to current talent informing them that the negotiations between WWE & Sinclair are only about licensing old footage, likely in relation to upcoming Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens DVDs/Specials. There are also rumblings about ROH airing on the WWE network but that doesn't sound like it's the priority at the moment.

The lazy fan in me would love to see every significant Indy have a broadcast deal on the WWE Network. I'm in far western KY where I can't see shows without effort. I'm married, have a mortgage, run marathons, volunteer for charities, and do all sorts of things that keep me so busy that I don't have time to travel to see indy wrestling live.

I'd even get behind an arrangement that would allow WWE talent to go work territories to work on new gimmicks or to get better (not quite developmental, but why not let Curtis Axel have a run in PWG or ROH with the understanding that he can come back to WWE in 9 to 12 months if things work out?). Let these places sell their merch through WWE Shop - give WWE just enough to make it worth their while (say 10%) and let the indy guys keep enough to make it worth their while to do it as well.
