PS4 Slim, a smaller sized version of the current PS4, will be release for $299. It'll be out on 09/15, and replacing the current model.
Sony also announced the PS4 Pro. For an extra $100, you'll get a faster CPU, a updated GPU, and a 1TB hard drive. PS4 Pro will support 4K video games. It will not support 4K Blu Rays (it will support Netflix and YouTube and other streaming in 4K, nudge nudge.) The PS4 Pro will be out on 11/10.
Games will look better on PS4 Pro, but all games will work for both systems. The idea is they'll just be optimized for each. Upcoming games and (some) previously released ones will be look better on the new system.
Sony sells TV, and the PS4 upgrade comes up as part of a corporate wide push to push 4K (just as like the previous 3D stuff.) I don't really see the point in upgrading. Maybe, if you were jumping in new and had decided you were getting a 4K TV soon (or already had one), you might as well spend the money to future proof yourself. It sounds mostly useless unless you're going to 4K.
Everyone PS4 will be getting an HDR firmware update in the next week (though you need a 4K TV to make use of it.) That might mean the entire 4.00 is coming soon. They also shows off a new PS Camera without explaining anything about it; it's probably part of a bundle with the VR headset.

This is how you start weaning people off physical media. (Not that services like Netflix aren't doing that anyway.) Its not worth the additional cost of adding 4K Blu-Ray when people are going to just stream everything going forward. | thecubsfan

On the one hand, the only promised feature to this game is that it exists, so we can't have another No Man's Sky on our hands, but, well, if it doesn't live up to the promise of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus... This game could easily fall short of expectations but it won't have been a marketing issue as much as it would just be a shitty sequel*. At least it won't be coming out on Steam so people won't be able to demand refunds.
I hate that I've reached the level of being so excited about something I'm worried that it can only fail me. SotC is my favorite game of all time, so... big shoes to fill.
*Yes I know its not exactly a sequel.
