Reposted on: 2.9.23 2228.02 | So we continue the theme of starting episodes with flashbacks (excepted only by the awesome sitcom opening, which, if you're going to establish and break a convention, was worth it) by showing Elliot's arrest and subsequent shuffle through the judicial system. Now we know he was arrested for messing with the psychiatrist's boyfriend. Now we know that Ray was the f***ing WARDEN! (which explains why he'd be allowed to bring a dying dog on-site.) And we get Leon ruminating on the comedic stylings of Paul Reiser. Great opening that ends with Darlene bringing it in for a hug and whispering important nothings into Elliot's ear indicating its time to get back to work.
How much does White Rose know about Elliot? I'm guessing they've got Krista's computers hacked so they should know that he's suffering from multiple personality disorder, right? Maybe the flunkies don't know why he wouldn't know what Stage 2 is, but White Rose has to.
So White Rose, despite being in the Chinese government, is the true head of E-Corp, and in such a shadowy way that Pryce doesn't even know it. His mercernary monologue was so full of hellfire and brimstone that I no longer expect him to make it out of the season. White Rose is going to move a new pawn into that position. My guess would have been Angela, but...
She's playing too reckless. (So was Darlene leaving that tape behind, which was obviously going to happen once we saw her face get recorded. Her instagram of the horror flick is also going to come back and bite her in the ass at some point too.) But Angela, I'm not sure how much was the inherent paranoia of the show making us not trust the director, and how much was Angela finding herself in legitimate danger, but she waited too long to extricate herself from that government office. I'd also expect that there should be a log somewhere showing that her boss signed in from her computer at a time he was out of the office (the smarter play would have been to feign IT troubles and have the boss log onto her computer briefly, and then steal the cached password that way, but, well, that's a bit less dramatic.) She's playing SO reckless that Dom has to come out of the shadows and admit that they're onto her in an attempt to both protect her and earn her trust enough to find out what's really going on.
Dom's too good. I get a Tommy-Lee-Jones-in-the-Fugitive-but-not-an-asshole vibe from her. If Dr. Richard Kimball was standing at the end of the sewer tunnel yelling that he didn't kill his wife, Dom would follow up and empthasize with him. She has a good soul and she can't stay on the opposite side of this from Elliot. Elliot has a good soul but that may be because the dark side of his soul metasticized into Mr. Robot. Angela looks like she has a good soul but she seems open to corruption, and Darlene takes after her father. But Dom and Elliot, they need to wind up working together at some point. I look forward to seeing that happen.
So White Rose's pet project is the Washington Township disaster that caused all the original grief to catalyze the whole show. My new theory is that whatever White Rose did has caused Elliot to be able to absorb the personalities of people who die around him. He absorbed his Dad's consciousness, and next week we'll find out that Tyrell is now floating around in his head after they killed him during the blackout. (They totally didn't kill him, Tyrell is hanging around somewhere to make a dramatic return either at the end of next week's episode or the end of the season.) | Promote this thread! |             | Mr Shh

I've been down his rabbit holes with LOST. Paragraphs upon paragraphs analyzing every literary reference and talking about theories about how the Others are animal-human hybrids and gushing with Dan Snierson about Elizabeth Mitchell. The show is so much neater without stopping every episode to dissect and go down paths to nowhere every 45 minutes. So many crazy theories and aborted ideas. I've been enjoying Mr. Robot as it is. I don't need Jeff Jensen to deep-dive and tell me that it is good.
