On Elliot’s side of reality, we hear a little bit more of his eerie maybe-real-maybe-not phone conversation with Tyrell. Tyrell speaks ominously about not yet being where he is supposed to be before Mr. Robot forcibly ends the call. Elliot has had enough of Mr. Robot’s bullshit. He needs a new way of eliminating his kernel panic once and for all. He thinks that OD’ing on Adderall will surely do the trick. Mr. Robot does what he can to put a stop to this tactic by forcing Elliot to regurgitate the pills – Elliot’s hallucinatory perception of this is that a cadre of mysterious, evil men kidnapped him, took him to an abandoned garage, bound him to a chair and forced wet cement down his throat. When Elliot finally realizes what actually happened, he doubles down rather than give up – he snags the pills from his own vomit and takes them again.

And it worked, sending Elliot into a really manic, completely sleep-deprived and hilarious-to-watch high. When Elliot inevitably runs out of pills and starts to crash, it gets really ugly. The highlight of his crash was a quite bitter and dark anti-religion tirade during prayer group, following which he storms out and leaves behind his reality-check notebook journal. The mysterious Ray finds and reads the journal, then talks to Elliot about his dark passenger. Turns out Ray suffers from something similar, holding a conversation with his dead wife every day over breakfast. Control is a fantasy, says Ray, as Mr. Robot appears once again. We know little about Ray. Last week, he seemed interested in securing Elliot’s services for some sort of hack-related job. This week, we see why he needs someone of Elliot’s skill, as he and a goon try (and fail) to strong-arm an incapable programmer of doing the job he needs.

Elsewhere, in the non-Elliot side of reality, Price continues to take a special interest in Angela. It appears that he is perhaps grooming and molding her in some way. When her routine of reciting positive self-affirmations gives her the confidence to stand behind the decision she made to negotiate an exclusive interview with Bloomberg, Price invites her to dinner...on a Saturday night! Ooh. Only it’s not a date, as Angela seemed to think, but rather an opportunity to make friendly with two other E Corp executives. Turns out these two had a hand in the toxic gas leak that killed Angela’s mom and Elliot’s father (and drove her crusade last season). Following dinner, Price hands Angela a disc with enough evidence to destroy these two guys. What will she do with this info? She already abandoned her noble(r) lawsuit route to continue working for the enemy. Will she remove emotion from the decision and take one step closer to becoming what she hated?

The most significant happening on the non-Elliot side of things was the murder of fsociety’s Romero, following last week’s murder of Gideon. Mobley and Trenton rightfully are a bit scared for their own lives, and wonder if the Dark Army, tipped off by Darlene or even Elliot, is behind the killings. FBI agent Dom DiPierro, whom we briefly met last week, is looking into the killing (and the Five/Nine attack in general). She discovers the hack after-party flier, which leads her right to Coney Island, right to the front door of the old FUN SOCIETY arcade (whose front sign, as we learned from the show-opening flashback, reads slightly differently without the U and N).

I had such a strong physical reaction to the cement scene, I had to look away to avoid throwing up. Jesus Christ.
