Look, I'm sure this is gonna be really awesome, and Margot Robbie is gonna steal the show, but can someone tell me if these people are bad guys?

I haven't even watched the trailer, but if it's consistent with past DC stories, the Suicide Squad is a bunch of bad guys who are given a chance by the government to work for the good guys, doing highly dangerous missions, rather than sitting in Arkham Asylum or a supermax prison.

Aww, Peter...
That trailer was... surprisingly good! Way better than the heavy-handedness of the Bats v Supes trailer, and I don't feel like I have an idea of what the full plot of the movie will be.

I don't think they have an idea what the plot is. My guess is they are going after Joker. I do wonder if the fans saying lighten up with these movies lead to Bohemian Rhapsody being the song. Honestly, all that song does is make me want to see Wayne's World. If Harley can't steal this film than they are in massive trouble.

Sorry, it was sarcasm based on people in the movie repeatedly* saying these folks are "bad guys." We get it.
*I think it was twice, but it was two times too many, especially Harley's groan-inducing line at the end.

Nah it's fine. They are antiheroes forced by their government to be used as a dangerous but disposable fighting force to do dirty work that can't be asked of legit heroes. It's good that you can't figure out the plot from the trailer. Too many films give you a recap in the trailer before the movie premieres. I'm guessing, much like the comic, there will be many betrayals and triple crosses.
I Also like that Robbie went for a kind of "Joisey" accent over the expected 1930's flapper Quinn we are use to. Make the character her own. Also hotpants. Can't wait to see how Joker and Harley get together for the first time on film. August is so far away...
Also the choice of Bohemian Rhapsody makes sense in the context of them being criminals who have to pay their dues for being dangerous.

As someone who's a huge fan of the original Ostrander series, this strikes exactly the wrong tone for me. For all of WB misguided attempts to make superhero movies more "serious," Suicide Squad actually presents them with a genuinely gritty property that could have gone in that direction without straining the recognizability of the characters in it. But they have elected to go the other way here for some reason.
Oh, I'm still going to go see it - but mainly because I think it's going to be a trainwreck.
