Well, it happened. It is time to make an update to my Fav Five (guys I'd like to bone.) (The W) Sorry Baron Corbin, I appreciate you trying to hold on with your amazing ROH dig, but your time has passed. Without your Sin City-esque green screen and Wolf motorcycle jacket, you just don't offer what you used to. Instead, I would like to welcome Finn Balor! His Jack the Ripper is what put him over the top. I'm surprised no one has yet mentioned how amazing his get up was in London. I saw another lady on the internet thought it was hella hot too, so I know I'm not wrong. I'd been holding off on adding Balor for a while. I have really sensitive skin, and was concerned about the ramifications of making sweet, sweet love to man covering in body paint, but I think for Jack the Ripper it would be worth it.

2. Finn Balor

Need I say more?
Pros: Cool jackets and capes, will happily play Legos with you, is walking anime trope
Cons: Blistering allergic reactions, demon that comes out in intense situations might entirely take over one day

Haven't been able to watch the show yet, other than being there live.
I totally understand why people wouldn't like the singing/chanting. But one thing felt different from previous events I've been at (like WM and post-WM Raw) where the crowd knows they have to act a certain way and stand out.
All of the chanting felt natural. Soccer chants simply are that insane and applying them to wrestlers is smart.
And here, not once did someone do a "we are awesome" chant.

Favorite had to be the White Stripes song for Enzo.
Then Cas came into the ring and the crowd was stumped for a minute maybe. What can we do with that name? All of a sudden some cheeky bloke started singing Hey Jude. Brilliant

The show itself. Asuka was awesome. And the match was exactly what I hoped, a strong outing for Emma too.
Oh and the new Asuka shirts are damn cool.

Tag match was a shocker to me. Still, it worked. Enzo looked strong in the ring too except for that final moment when he tried to take out both guys. So I don't know if we'r heading for dissention in the team.

Corbin-Crews was better than I expected. A slight surprise to see Corbin win, but it makes sense because he needs it more to look credible than Crews. THey could call up Crews now and he can make it work. Corbin needs to win to be impressive.

Bayley-Nia was very cool. The atmosphere was crazy and the crowd loved Bayley so much you could tell that at first they didn't even imagine her losing. But as Nia kept killing her, the vibe actually changed. People started to get concerned or so it felt like. Of course for the last 2 minutes during the 'choke' hold the crowd went insane again.

Joe-Balor was again very solid. I feel that Balor needs a breakout match in NXT to be more than just a cool entrance. Maybe it was because I was there, but this felt like it.
He had to work a bit harder, dig deeper etc than previously (Not counting the ladder match) and it all came across well.
Joe was awesome to watch toofor that matter. What a monster.

One funny thing; once the match was over and Joe left, Balor also wanted to leave. The ref told him to sit down instead and that's when they did the "trainer looks how he's doing" thing. Very funny.

The pre-show tag match with JJ & Gable and some other people was fun. IThe crowd was crazy for Jordan and Gable. If you thought Enzo/Cass got a fun chant, well..there's No Limits to what the crowd did for Jordan & Gable.
Post-show Zayn vs Dillinger was cool. Sami had a nice little speech after the match as well.

Final thing: Did the sound pick up the rather stupid thing where the crowd tried to confuse the ref? When he counted 2 they did 3, he did 3 they did 4, etc. And of course this is wrestling so we all knew the guy rolls back in just before ten, which then resulted in 10 10 10 10 10 chants.

Absolutely - that was really confusing and annoying as well. It probably could have thrown off the wrestlers' timing as well.

That's apparently a UK wrestling tradition for a while now. At a local show some time back, Nigel McGuinness served as a guest referee for a match, and counted everything incredibly slowly. The fans at the event got frustrated and started chanting the next number in counts after the number Nigel gave to try to speed him up. And, as these things tend to do, it caught on.

It being an excuse to get to chant for Dillinger would just be a bonus!

I'm one of the main detractors of Nia Jaxx, but I guess I kept seeing her as bargain bin Awesome Kong. Seeing her wrestle in that match with Bayley made me realize that she isn't WWE's homemade Kong, but she's female Big Show. It makes so much sense that I can't even hate anymore. I really enjoy Bayley winning big matches with improvised submissions sometimes.

Asuka and Emma beat the shit out of each other. That felt more like a stiff-ass Japanese wrestling match ala Ciampa v. Samoa Joe. Beautiful!

They gotta pull the trigger on Enzo and Cass like January of next year. The only team that's even as remotely over in this company is The New Day and there is no other team nearly as loved by fans. It's safe to say that they are too great for the NXT tag titles and it may be time for a call up. A split, akin to the one they almost did with these two several months back, is the laziest of booking and helps no one.

That's unfortunate that Corbin is going bald. I can't tell if he has that Triple H thing going on where it looks thin wet or if his follicles are failing him.

Finn's problem is there is not enough of a personality split between Demon Balor and regular Finn. The reason Foley's multiple gimmicks worked was because you knew the kind of match and personality each face would get you. Cactus Jack brought the bloody matches, weapons, and you had to damn near kill him to stop him. Mankind was that but he was also a damaged individual who wanted to be accepted and became more of a lovable loser, and Dude Love liked to party and was not the hardcore wrestling psycho of the other two.

There is no difference in both versions of Balor besides look. Demon Balor simply trying to bite Joe's face off during a match or doing multiple Coup de Grace until the ref stops the match and being restrained and pulled away by multiple refs and security, then when he interviewed about it the next week he claims to have no recollection of it would go leaps and bounds in establishing the personality differences. So when he breaks out the bodypaint again you think "Oh shit, somebodies gonna die tonight".

The UK crowd chanting and screaming was awesome. Don't think so? Go back to earlier this year and the times RAW and Smackdown were in the UK and see how the crowd was kinda just there and only marginally popping for their Countrymen and women Paige and Barrett. The Main Show crowds were attending an event, the crowd for NXT sounded like they were there for Queen with the ghost of Freddie Mercury had showed up at the O2 Arena.

That's actually a good point about Finn. The only difference in regular Finn and Demon Finn is the paint and entrance. There should be a little more to it. Really, all it is at this point is us knowing "oh, it's Takeover, he's going to have paint on."

I didn't think it was worth making a new thread for this since it will be out of the majority of W's area and many of you won't be able to watch it without IP address shenanigans, but I've just noticed there's a documentary on iplayer about Finn Balor just before joining WWE: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p03b2qs3/smack-em-up#group=p026sy87

I watched this when it first came out, right after Balor's NXT debut.

It's worth noting to anyone thinking about watching it that you should do so in a place where it's appropriate to see men pulling their scrotums out of their trunks and tea-bagging other men off the top rope.
