| #1 Posted on 14.12.15 2236.49 Reposted on: 14.12.22 2239.57 | Well, I think they did it right.
Steph jerks the curtain and calls out Roman who comes through the crowd. She plays the "You hurt my family" and Roman insults the whole McMahon family as "a disgrace". She slaps him about 6-7 times and says Daddy's coming.
Some metches ensue including a pretty good one between Ambrose and Ziggler.
and R-Truth and Bo Dallas mix it up (excuse me, R Truth and Bo Dallas?) The Boss shows and takes the ring from them. He waits through a commercial break and then calls out Roman who comes from the back (hey, he's supposed to be with the people!) and will not apologize. It looks like he and Vinny are going to mix it up when Sheamus comes out and eventually challenges Reigns to a championship match tonight - it's a "you're fired if you lose match" and Vince kicks Roman in the nuts to finish the segment.
I have missed Vince. He looks pretty good.
Other matches happen including once with some ladies and and older white haired gentleman who must be one of their granddads'.
The New Day Have fake respect for The Uso's and Lucha Dragons then dance before the losers come back to clean house.
Edit: (how did I forget?) There was a pretty decent brawl between the Wyatts and the old ECWers. Decent enough hardcore shots but my main complaint is Cole kept calling the garbage cans and Kendo sticks "Treasure" when it is traditionally called "plunder". Wyatts won and I think Tommy Dreamer might have been paralyzed. The guy knows how to take a bump.
Next thing I know the match between The Celtic Warrior and Reigns is on. Lots of good drama and interference from Vince too. Reigns wins the belt after going Vinny the superman punch and spearing Sheamus (after getting rid of the Barrettless League of Nations). He even bled.
I loved this raw. What did you think?

The show did have a different feel to it tonight. I liked it, but 3 hours is still too long.
I hate that Stephanie never loses face.

It was the poor man's Mick Foley winning the title "that'll put asses in seats" replay, if you will.
Asking these guys to go out there and have this match the night after they bludgeoned each other is complete madness. However, they saw what we all saw last night which was some late breaking Roman support. They've botched the moment so many times NOW was the time to do this. It was typical overbooked nonsensical Attitude Era McMahon booking, but it worked.
Whew, thank god because this chase had become tiresome and Reigns has taken some massive beatings in and out of the ring. He's earned the right to see where this goes. Even if this is complete reactionary booking from 12 hours ago, I don't care. This needed to happen.
The TNA vs The Wyatts brawl was also good fun. If only WCW got that kind of treatment during the Invasion ... oh, what's that? ECW you say? Never heard of them.

I hope he can keep it up. It remains to be seen, but it's better to give him the title before the Rumble than have the looming threat of him winning it again.
Have him as champion walking into WrestleMania 32 to face Brock, HHH, or Cena. I think any of those matches could work as long as Roman isn't chasing them.
Roman Reigns as WWE Champion is no longer a threat. It's reality, and it might not wind up being so bad. And if it is, they'd better turn him. | SchippeWreck

That was a pretty incredible moment at the time. It is a shame that Miz never took off the way it seemed he would back then.
Sounds like Reigns had a good evening tonight. Probably was the right move putting it on him on a day where it wasn't expected. | Wpob

Taking this back further, the last time the WWE Title changed hand where there wasn't a MITB cash-in or a title vacancy was involved was Edge beating RVD in July(?) 2006, right around the Pot-gate incident. | Spiraling_Shape

Because it will always work. I don't know why people are doing a revisionist history on the Attitude Era, but you got this type of stuff almost every week. As opposed to this era or even the 80s when it was once a year if that.
They got Roman over in Smarkville, USA. So, he is going to be over for awhile now. Can they capitalize on it? Probably not. HHH seems to once again want another match at Mania even though Taker retired him five years ago. Reigns/Ambrose/Rollins is the best match at Mania if Rollins can go. Reigns is also the one person who can carry the title into Mania and it mean something. So, dump the HHH crap and either do the Shield Triple Threat or do Brock/Reigns II.
I understand the Dudley Boyz are there to put new talent over. Yet, win a match. The Wyatts can lose a match, because I don't believe the IWC narrative that Bray is a jobber, because he lost to Cena and Taker while winning every other feud he has been in. I am sure Team ECW losing was to set-up the good feelings of Reigns winning. Yet, they could have won last night. It also looked like the Wyatts were totally lost at times during that match. | JustinShapiro

For me what last night was about more was Vince McMahon's stooging, ass-showing real heel routine doing more to get Reigns over in two segments than his kids' shitty boss act did in a year.
Now I have to think Reigns and HHH will be blown off at the Rumble, because Hunter winning the RR is still a bridge too far in terms of internet nitemare prophecies. Brock wins the Rumble and then they finally feed Reigns the win over him because, you know, this is all totally workin' now. I wish my man Johnny C could save us but the Brock/Taker blowoff locks in those musical chairs IMO. | BigDaddyLoco

The show felt special. Besides getting a MAJOR title change, they built up to it perfectly. They even won over the Philly fans, which is no easy deal. Hell, they won us over... there was a thread about Raw on here on Monday night again instead of Tuesday around lunchtime.
The real challenge is seeing where they go with Roman from here. Do you keep him a badass, or do they ruin it and have him come out and cut a cheesy promo next week?
Sorry, you guys found a way to make Slammy voting too complicated. I'm not sending out ten different tweets to vote in ten categories. I did take a minute to tweet my #superstar of the year vote for Sasha Banks, though.

Crash TV indeed.
Suddenly The Shield bros have the two top singles titles, Hunter and Vince take a licking, and the League of Nations fails just two weeks after forming. This seems like a hard reboot. Reigns has a nice line of contenders at the ready, and we could toss in Kevin Owens from now to Mania. | Heims

Time has passed you by, and it's time for a muscular, handsome game show host to reign over your promotion indefinitely. As Vince fell to total kayfabe defeat, he won tonight's battle convincingly.
Maybe, just maybe, they've learned not to present Reigns as Cena anymore. I agree this felt like a main event reboot.
From a defensive booking standpoint the obvious Mania opponent for Reigns at this point is Johnny C. They've finally reached a point where they can present Reigns as an anti-Cena and be confident that most people will accept it. They have to know that booking Reigns/Lesnar will only undo the last two nights. Reigns/HHH could work if they added an "Authority gone forever until the next time Edge shows up" stip, I guess, but as a straight title match it'd just be death. With Sheamus 2:16 deposed there's just no urgency to get behind the Big Dog. | Spiraling_Shape
