| #1 Posted on 1.12.15 0602.44 Reposted on: 1.12.22 0603.44 | So I watched a bit of Raw last night while watching football. Mostly in the PIP window, honestly.
But I saw: An opening that saw a Looooong promo by New Day and Sheamus. New Day cannot make him any better for me. I mostly watched "Come on, Man!" during this but I did see Reigns lay Sheamus out and take the belt. Then I saw Trips and the princess take it back. What does 5:15 signify?
Ok, I missed a lit but saw the end of the Charlotte verses some other female wrestler person not wearing heavy eyeliner. She had to cheat to win and Slick Ric was there to give the rub. Is she to take the "dirtiest player in the game" mantle?
Saw a bit of Ziggler against Tyler Breeze. Pretty ok with an expected finish.
The game got good so I didn't see anything until the finale where the heels stood over the destroyed bodies of Reigns and Ambrose. I assume the Usos were only there as window dressing. I never did catch what happened to the 5:15 time limit match against Sheamus.
You better discuss further. I didn't actually see enough to say more Promote this thread! | | Hokienautic

Four out of the six matches had non finishes and we're very short though the title match being short was understandable and the main event lasted forever but at least they put heat on the heels. Remember a year and a half ago when the Wyatt were red hot? Now they are feuding with Tommy Dreamer and the Dudleys. Yikes. | JustinShapiro

Either way, I suppose a stable straight out of a WWE video game story mode -- or every 6 months of TNA -- is preferable as even a slightly different shade of an Authority group. Wait, who does ADR represent in the League, Mexico or Mexamerica?
Charlotte as a heel instead of babyface reciting bad "determination" dialogue without conviction = much better (see also Roman Reigns, but yeah). Entire women's division having no set faces and heels, just a revolving door of backstabs by crazy ladies = much sad.
When did they start the Rusev-Lana breakup that everyone immediately id'd as a very bad idea? April? Well. Time well-spent. RIP American Bombshell CJ Bikini.

I am surprised Ziggler won last night. Happy, but surprised.
Rusev's accent faded out often in that Miz segment. He ate the countout loss to save Lana even though he's a full-on heel. It's a rare bit of complexity for the character (or any character these days).
I eagerly await Big E's main event push next year, and I think the slow-burn New Day face turn was set by their last-second inclusion in the tag match. | BigDaddyLoco

Actually I was really close to cancelling only for them to add old NWA, Smokey Mountain and Mid South.
The main event was so uninteresting that I was looking out the window and I finally spotted the bear that has been tearing up our yards and I got to go outside and get a good look at him. So, their bland programming paid off for once.
Edi: And just because New Day is something that is working it doesn't mean they need to be in every other segment.

ADR was the only member to not have his home country mentioned, even though that was the part I was on the edge of my seat for. Either way, he's awkward in that group.
So a dq win is still a win, making the triple threat tag and Ambrose's IC match still on? Obviously I shouldn't care because neither of those matches involve Cryin' Roman Reigns, but I would appreciate clarification.
Charlotte is heel (sorta?) which is a better fit. Paige is heel, which is a better fit. Sasha is heel. Bellas are heel. Becky is Sting without the charisma (and surprisingly, the ability to be a good worker). So now we wait for Bayley while sitting on our hands?
Did Breeze get an intro? He left his in-ring mannerisms in Florida. Did someone tell him to stop trying and just be generic pretty bad guy?
That Adam Rose thing was terrible. The laugh track bled over to the live show.
Remember when Ambrose had everyone eating out of his hand? Now he's Big Poochie's sidekick.
I don't know how I feel about this show; the second half was more inspired than the first, even though the Main was a complete snooze.

I'm sure this show was intriguing enough to Mick Foley for him to keep watching, but thankfully I have a Timberwolves game to go to next Monday. I guess the bit with the closing the borders of MexiAmerica on SmackDown (?) was the write off for the gimmick and now they're just against haters judging from the sign on Zeb's scooter. I dunno.
Giving Sasha a win to seemingly set her up as challenger on the same show as they turned Charlotte didn't make much sense, but they seemed to be setting up Sasha/Naomi vs the Bellas with Nikki returning.
Weirder is WWE going over the top to set up Charlotte being a sympathetic face to starting a turn two weeks ago, and certain people who were so offended by that angle being back on TV a couple weeks later. It feels like the heel turn is an apology present for the angle, but it doesn't hold together as a story at all. | SKLOKAZOID

| #11 Posted on 1.12.15 1229.08 Reposted on: 1.12.22 1229.14 | At least we're back to clearly delineated lines like "America vs All Foreign Countries" that worked so well in the past. I'm glad Ireland appears to be the leader of this coalition as it's the most intimidating country of the four.
Last night illustrates a HUGE problem that WWE has been having with its "writing" staff. They think they can just proceed without explaining anything and shake things up without any regard for setup, thinking that as long as Reigns is the face and Sheamus is the heel, we'll just go along with whatever.
You need to have a bit more respect for your audience than that. Wrestling wasn't always like this. Hogan/Savage, which is a pretty paint-by-numbers wrestling story, planted seeds that were paid off later. Maybe if they actually had any real plans of this coalition forming (maybe starting with Del Rio coming back and beating Cena) and used the next month to pay this off at Survivor Series, it would have sold the story a lot better. | Hokienautic

I saw his FB post where he talked of some lower-level wrestler who recently had an idea for a Foley-included angle that would potentially elevate a group of people -- but got shot down. Has there been any indication of just what that is? | lotjx

I am in the minority, but I marked the fuck out for Tommy Dreamer. It seemed to be the only thing that got through to the fans last night. I even liked the fact that Bubba pushing Bray into the table caused the Wyatts to lose their minds. It was a great bit of storytelling. If we get that in this feud than its already better than most of Bray's feuds which as much bitching as people do, he is pretty well protected.
They can call themselves the League of Nations or the League of Assassins or the League of Mid-Carders with Accents. It doesn't change how much damaged goods all of those guys are. Mainly from after feuding with Cena. They also need to push other faces to stop this group which they seem to refuse to do. Cena coming back to help his new buddies of Ambrose and Reigns is going to feel weird. | JimBob Skeeter

It's not helping that they so desperately want Charlotte to be Ric, and she is so most certainly not. If there is one death-gimmick in all of professional wrestling, it is "child of legendary performer." No one stuck with that ever goes anywhere, and the actual children of legendary performers who have succeeded have really only managed to do so once they broke out of their father's shadows. Charlotte was doing really well being Charlotte, but she is going to fail hard being Ric. | andy1278

| #16 Posted on 1.12.15 1731.20 Reposted on: 1.12.22 1732.28 | Heel Charlotte is needed. Perky happy Charlotte is boring and seems fake as can be. She's "genetically superior," she should be acting better than everyone else instead of looking like she is forcing a smile on her face. Though we are again hitting the point where almost all of the women are heels again, though I feel like we are headed towards Sasha somewhat joining the good side (which is sad because she is a master heel).
I enjoyed the opening, partially because New Day Rocks and partially because Sheamus played everything right, and the Roman punch out of nowhere was cool. Stealing the title wasn't necessary, but I'm sure Dean gave him tips since he just did that storyline a few months back.
I also like the League, just because it gets Bad News near the main event at least for now, until Cena comes back and defeats them all somehow (likely by overcoming the odds, I'd imagine).
Happy to see Dreamer, but why rush the match right then? Why not hold it off until TLC?
I like Adam Rose. I wish they could find something to do with him on the main show that didn't make him look stupid.
Jack Swagger would benefit from a Ryder-style crossover into NXT for a while. Let him battle to Joes and Balors and such for a while. It'll freshen him up after the years of stink he has been buried under. | MoeGates
