Reposted on: 9.11.22 1603.08 | A show that manages to be small yet full of big stuff. It's awkward in places (Jessie's porch speech right after killing a suicide walker, Spencer's pantry speech, his later argument with Deanna), but we get the start of interesting tangents.
Maggie's preggers. I'm not keen on this only because the show already has a baby who's become less important (and visible) as she became more safe. Character management is a problem this season because there are so many people. But we needed Carol and Gabriel to react to Rick's return and the Wolf attack. Carol, for instance, should be in charge of either the pantry or the arsenal or both. Anyway, babies are props not characters, but if Glenn and Maggie and Baby Herschel are the show's new nuclear family, there are worse roles for them to play.
Rick and Jessie smooched. This seems less seismic in light of Rick getting tipsy and cozy with her last season. But it gives them something to yearn for and protect in the shadow of a walker mob mere feet from their homes.
Denise and Tara smooched. Denise is my favorite new character because I know that person. She's completely credible. Great writing and great acting there.
Ron has something in mind with Rick and Carl. He asked Rick to teach him to shoot, and I wonder if he hopes to supplant Carl as Rick's Number One Son while Carl worries about Enid. Ron lost his dad to Rick but doesn't seem too emotional about that. "Seem," anyway.
If the name of this show was The Running Dead, there's no way Rick could have escaped the RV. Still no word on Glenn. They saved all of the parade escort survivors for next week's episode. | Promote this thread! |             | StaggerLee

Anyway, sewer walkers are nasty and awesome at the same time. The best walker monsters they've had in a long time.
So, our big, teased all summer gay coming out was a secondary character? YAWN.
Deanna going batshit crazy and stabbing a walker 178 times in the chest with a broken bottle was the most satisfying thing in this episode. Her "I want to live" moment with Rick is a turning point.

Reposted on: 10.11.22 0945.39 | Pretty good quiet aftermath episode. I guess we are getting some BBW lesbian action. Nothing wrong with that and a bit refreshing really. If Glenn comes back, again if, I will not be upset by it, because Rick seems to get out of worse jams with zero explanation.
Deanna has a Captain Janeway vibe. Like if Voyager acknowledged Janeway was wrong for stranding the ship there instead of hey look new planets with new life we can fuck with while the ship looks brand new after seven years of fighting. I kinda like that. I was with Spencer til his small heel turn.
Maggie going after Glenn makes total sense. The pregnancy doesn't feel tacked on, but what happens in a world with birth control at a low. Kinda of a dick move to throw Nick and Glenn's names on the wall, btw.
