Rollins pretty much destroyed his knee, tearing his MCL, ACL and medial meniscus and is out for the better part of a year. Just horrible news and horrible timing.

Forgot to mention that a new champion will be crowned at Survivor Series Deadly Game 2: Electric Boogaloo, but you probably already know that by now.

This could be their chance to pull the trigger with Sheamus to keep an Authority-backed champ until Mania. There really is no one else who's a midcard heel who could move up to the main event and the title picture. Owens has the IC belt, and Del Rio has the US belt.
Cena, Orton, and Rollins gone within a few weeks. Woof.

Awful news for Rollins, although sets up a great story when he comes back. Which is hopefully sooner than later. I just hope they don't rush the timeline to try to get him back for Mania at the risk of reinjuring the knee.
My thought is, why not go ahead and pull the trigger and give it to Roman. Let him carry it through, and they could do either Reigns/Lesnar 2 or Reigns/Ambrose for the title at Mania.

Nearly ten posts and no snarky "HHH comes out of retirement" comments? You people are really slipping lately. ANYWAY, here it is. It doesn't look THAT bad, but it doesn't look GOOD either. Kudos to him for being able to finish the move/match.

Sucks for Rollins, who in many respects has carried the company despite being given crappy material.
Meanwhile, there's so much fantasy booking that can happen here, and we know exactly who is needed; paging the the Unlikeliest Doctor (Shaperio too!)!
I'm not on Doc's level, but I'll take a stab at this. I've mentioned this last year, and will mention it again; Reigns as literal Rock 2.0 with the Corporate Heel Turn would be an amazing turn of events, especially with Ambrose being as over as he is.
1) Have Ambrose win, Reigns turns. Blood feud.
2) Reigns wins versus Ambrose via turning. Blood feud.
What I'd like to see that doesn't involve full Rock 2.0:
Wyatt cuts a swath of destruction, wins the title. Reigns and Ambrose realize that they need help to take him down, and recruit a couple of guys - leading to Cesaro, Ryback, Reigns, and Ambrose forming a formal alliance. Somehow through some sort of fashion, a Wyatt gets the IC belt and the tag titles. Ambrose goes after Harper and the IC belt, Cesaro and Ryback do insane power spots and go after the tag titles.
Conversely, I'll also accept:
1) Owens takes Rollins' spot. 2) Full blown Del Rio the Lion Face Turn.
Worse possibilities:
1) Sheamus. 2) LOL CENA. 3) Sheamus. 4) Sheamus. 5) Ambrose turning heel on Reigns would be the worst thing to do to Reigns. 6) Sheamus.
If this was last year I'd pull heavy for Rusev, but he's been knocked way down this year. This year I'm pulling for a Big E win just because he is the biggest risk/reward.

There are worse ideas than Sheamus getting the belt for a few weeks, leading to Reigns going over at Survivor Series to officially begin the 'Roman Empire' era. Sheamus could even cash in on Rollins this Monday if they have a "Seth surrenders the title" ceremony or something, to set up Rollins returning as a face when he's healthy.
Then again, forget a tournament. Use this as an excuse to bring back the ULTIMATE SURVIVAL MATCH from 1990. The whole Series card is 4x4 elimination matches, with the survivors all moving into a final bout at the end of the night. Sole survivor of THAT is the new champion. (The expected Wyatts vs. Taker's Team match can be separate, and be held for the slot prior to the main event.)

I was actually thinking the same thing. Does the World Championship also fall under Freebird rules? At the very least, Big E needs to make it to the finals to tease a New Day victory.
Also, I suddenly want to see New Day involved in a feud with 'Taker just for a visual of fog rolling out of Woods' trombone as it becomes possessed and turns on him. Or would they have to feud with Bray Wyatt for that to happen now? Speaking of which, can we get a New Day vs Wyatt Family mini-feud? If Wyatts vs Shield can happen with neither group turning face, I don't see why it couldn't happen again.

This really sucks for everybody. Even if he himself didn't have a ton of credibility as champion, Seth Rollins' title run deserved a proper handoff to the more credible guy who would eventually beat him.
I suppose there's opportunity somewhere in this, because now they can really shake things up. It feels like we haven't had a legitimate champion since Brock at WrestleMania, so now we have to really solidify whoever wins the belt as the guy to beat.
I think the Reigns/Ambrose wheelhouse is about as obvious as the Mankind/Rock dynamic we had in 1998, which is a very good thing. This means that Vince really wants Alberto Del Rio or Sheamus to win the vacant title.

Wrestling was so fun back when there were multiple companies trying to one up each other. I'd even take a Scramble match. At least that gave us WWe Champion THE Brian Kendrick.

Reigns and Ambrose recreating A Deadly Game is my preferred scenario too, short of the very unlikely True Best Ending of Ambrose just winning outright to end the succession of corporate champions, while Reigns slow burns mad over not getting the title again.
Instead I feel like between Reigns, Sheamus, and Del Rio, there's a cavalcade of boring potential winners to look forward to.

Hear hear. Aside from Bryan and the Rock's combined five months, WWE hasn't had a face world champ who's been completely popular with the audience since Punk turned in 2012. Maybe the simplest way to turn ratings around would be to (this sounds crazy) actually have a popular wrestler as champion.
