Eight years ago, I made a couple of videos of a friend's band for them and put them on YouTube. These videos were really low quality video, but the sound was good, so my friend was cool with it. Since then, their band has taken off and have quite a few corporate sponsors, and a couple have made comments about the crappy videos. my friend asked me if I could take them down. Cure, I would love to, if I could remember the sign in email address/phone number/password I used for that account! I've been trying for the past couple of days to get any help from YouTube, and unless you have like 15,000 views a day, they don't have time for you. Does anyone have any ideas?

You could always have the band file DMCA takedown notices, which you wouldn't be able to "fight" - unless they're worried that this might make them look bad somehow (which it might, Internet people take stuff the wrong way all the time).

Isn't the default assumption for a DMCA notice to blame the label and not the band?

(that's brilliant, btw)

It doesn't even need to by the be band. As a veteran of receiver of DMCA copyright strikes on YouTube, I can assure you that the DMCA can be filed from a company, a group or from just a single individual.

It's your video, YouTube isn't giving you control, you can file a DMCA under your name too. It's pretty much automated and there's no one on the other side to fight it, so the video will either go private or get taken down.
