Eva Marie is in the show's open now, so it looks like she's not going anywhere for while. Urgh. And just to reinforce that, she's in our opening match tonight as well, facing...Carmella!? Oh, fuck you NXT. As entrances are being made, they cut back to two weeks ago when Eva Marie failed to kick out of a cover and wound up making pro wrestling look even faker than it actually is. Rule #1 of show business: Never acknowledge a mistake. Should have just moved past this. Instead, Eva Marie has a cut-in promo to talk about it, and Rule #2 of show business: Don't ever, EVER, let Eva Marie talk about anything. Ever. This match sucks. There's your recap: This match sucks. "Highlights" are a pretty nasty bump that Eva Marie takes to the floor, and just so it doesn't look like I'm being unreasonably harsh about her, it's a solid bump and it looks like it hurts like hell. Unfortunately, that's probably the best "move" either competitor pulls off here. The crowd starts chanting "All botch everything," and that's pretty accurate at this point. Carmella goes for a pin, and the ref stops counting before the 3, and it looks like they're going to make a thing out of this. Then the camera pulls out, and Eva Marie had her foot on the ropes. So they're not doing a thing? This makes no sense. Anyhoo, Carmella gets tossed outside and hits her head, and that gives us a countout win for Eva Marie, who IS STILL UNDEFEATED IN NXT.
Match Rating: This Match Sucked.
Afterwards, Eva Marie makes the international sign of "I want the belt," which she also botches somehow. It looks like she's rubbing her tummy.

To wash the taste of that out of our mouths, we get a promo package for the upcoming women's title ironman match. There's some footage recapping Bayley's title win and the promo from last week, and both Bayley and Sasha have some new sitdown promos cut in to talk about what this match is going to mean. This is super exciting, easily my most anticipated match of the year so far.

Next match is Tyler Breeze vs. Bull Dempsey. This one is a significant step up from our opener. The story, as you might have guessed, is that Breeze can't match power with Bull. It's all Bull in the beginning, until Breeze manages to knock him out of the ring. Once Breeze gets going on offense, he starts putting in some hard punches and kicks, then grinds Bull down with a headlock and some elbows to the neck and shoulders. It's a very Keven Owens-esque offensive strategy, which I also noted coming out of Solomon Crowe last week, so I suspect there may have been a bit of a shift in how the heels are working down there. I don't mind at all. Bull hulks up - he actually does everything but the point - shrugging off all of Breeze's offense. Once he's got Breeze down again, he goes up top for his headbutt, but Breeze rolls out of the way. Bull comes down, works him over, and tries again, but this time it goes even worse for him. Breeze pulls Bull off the top, slamming him to the mat. Then he covers, and using the ropes for leverage, steals a pin.
Match Rating: Tyler Breeze Is So Good, They Need To Find Something Big For Him.

Takeover's coming up on Oct. 7, and it finally has a name: Respect. I'm down with that.

We get a house show report from NXT's trip to Texas. While this easily could have been very boring for anyone who's not actually from Texas, it's a neat little package that shows off the talent and really sells the fun of attending an NXT house show. It's effective.

GM Regal is in the ring now, for another historic NXT signing. He brings out Kana, who's getting the full Hideo Itami treatment of coming out to her original name and then getting to change it in front of the crowd. She is now Asuka, and she is super excited to be here. I mean, she seems absolutely giddy to be doing this. Honestly, WWE is the biggest organization in the industry, so I can see it being a pretty big deal to work there even if you have accomplished a ton in your career elsewhere. Anyhoo, we all knew that this wasn't going to go off without a hitch, and so Dana and Emma come out to crash the party. Huh, I guess they're not splitting them up after all. Dana and Emma give a pretty stock "We run this yard" spiel, and tell Asuka to clear out of their ring. Asuka...looks sad and then leaves. Huh. She gets all the way up the ramp and then flashes a smile, and then leaves. Huh. That was really weird.

Weird. Okay, Tag Classic update from the control center. They bring us up to speed on the matches that were televised last week, and then go over the stuff from the Texas house shows. Dash and Dawson scored a major upset over the Vaudvillains. How weird is it that they didn't televise either of the tag champs' matches? Next week, we're getting Joe and Balor against Enzo and Cass, which should be pretty dang great, and the Hype Bros. against Jordan and Gable, which will probably be alright. Both of the latter teams have comments for us, although neither say much that you couldn't guess on your own. The highlight is Gable's new towel (he's doing a new thing) which has "Ready" and "Willing" added above the "Gable." I love that guy.

Time now for the main event, the tag title rematch between the Vaudvillains and Blake and Murphy. Blake, Murphy, and Alexa Bliss have super rad Iron Man themed tights, and I can't say enough good things about adding Bliss to Blake and Murphy. She's helped out their entire presentation so much. Unfortunately, we barely get the entrances out of the way before Blue Pants comes out to run her off, so that we can get a fair match between these two teams. The Vaudvillains start off absolutely killing Blake and Murphy. They hit their elbow drop/running boot combo, which always looks killer, and then Aiden English delivers a double armdrag to Blake and Murphy, followed by a double dropkick that send them both outside. English starts working over both guys on the outside, which doesn't seem like a real good idea, but he's actually getting the best of them. Oops, scratch that. A nasty looking back suplex onto the ring apron puts Blake and Murphy in control. They start working over English in the classic style, wearing him down and cutting the ring in half. They do a cool bit where Blake sits on the ropes and puts both of his boots up, and Murphy slams English's face into them. Gotch is going straight bananas on the apron. Seriously, this is animated gif territory, check it out. Finally, English absolutely blasts Murphy with a right hand. I mean, it's a wonder he doesn't knock him out. But it is enough to make the hot tag. Gotch comes in with a variety of super-cool kicks, including one he's dubbed the "Belgian kick" in honor of Jean Claud Van-Damme (no, really, check his twitter), and he follows that with a great back suplex of his own. He tags English back in, nails a rolling overhead slam, and English goes to the middle turnbuckle for a senton. Blake gets the knees up, though, and tags Murphy back in. Murphy goes to the middle turnbuckle himself, and hits that cool flying knee-grab face-slam thing that he hasn't actually done in a long time. He covers, and it looks bad for the Vaudvillains, but English kicks out! Blake and Murphy go for a double suplex, but English flips out of it. He back body drops Blake outside, tags in Gotch, and a Whirling Dervish to Murphy gets the win for the champs.
Match Rating: Great, Great Finishing Sequence.

Before we cut out, we go to pretaped comments from Enzo and Cass. They're focused on winning the Dusty Tag Classic to honor their mentor, and even though they respect Joe and Balor, respect is out the window. We get a response from Joe and Balor, and Balor says he'll be putting friendship aside on this one. Joe just does another thing where he's unreasonably friendly toward Balor, and Balor gets weirded out by it. I love this angle.

Honestly I'd love to see Enzo and Cass win the tournament, because I think they'd be the most appropriate to honor Dusty. Unfortunately, I just don't see Joe and Balor going out before the finals, where their angle will undoubtedly result in a Samoa Joe heel turn. But hey, maybe I'm wrong, and either way, next week's match looks to be a lot of fun. I've really been enjoying the Tag Classic. In fact, if I have a complaint, it's that it looks like there were a couple of good matches that got put on the house shows that we'll never get to see. If my only problem is that I want more, that's a good problem for them to have.

I was going to respond to this, but Greymarch clearly also understood what was going on. Emma and Brooke did too, you can tell as their faces went "LOL YOU SUCK GET OUT OF HERE WE ARE GONNA DIE AWH CRAP" within five seconds.

The Finn/Joe becoming hilarious, love it.

No, no, I got what was going on, I just thought the execution was, well, weird. Not that I'm really sure what I'd do differently if it was my call, but the segment didn't hit for me.

Kana we want to give you a new name as you become a WWE employee, what would you like it to be?

Kana: Asuka.

We are, so what do you want your new name to be?

Ahh phonetics. I totally stole that from Maffew of Botchamania.

But seriously Asuka is super sexy, and looks like a character in my Japanese cartoons with the crazy hair color combos.
