All the indications show it will be fairly good and a significant upgrade from the Version 7 I am running (hated 8.1 so much I wouldn't get it).

I have 8.1 I wouldn't mind upgrading, but I wasn't sure if I had some kind of better agreement since I paid for 8.1. If I'm getting 10 for free can't they change the rules at anytime? I don't know. I'm not a tech guy, but you know that. I'll do it if you all do it.

My existing machine is an Ivy Bridge-era box bought just before Windows 8 came out. Didn't bother upgrading since I didn't have a touch screen and I was happy with 7 anyway.
My cousin got 10 on his machine this morning and seems to think it's pretty cool. | Sec19Row53

I haven't scheduled my "upgrades" (multiple systems) yet. | thecubsfan

Nah. If you upgrade to Windows 10 in the next 365 days, you get a full version with no subscription cost (and no cost for updates or anything) for the lifetime of Windows 10.
No one's gone on the record with what happens if you wait a year to upgrade - Microsoft is hinting there will be a upgrade cost - but you don't pay anything more once you upgrade. It's closer to the iOS model than the Office suite one. | Sec19Row53

Thanks for the update. Meanwhile, our IT Department has said hold off on any work upgrades until they've had a chance to do testing. not surprising, I'd say. | Packman V2

So far, so good. Although I will say I had heard that Edge would give Chrome a run for it's money speedwise, but the few times I've used it, I haven't noticed that much difference between it and it's predecessor. | BigDaddyLoco

| #9 Posted on 6.8.15 0855.22 Reposted on: 6.8.22 0859.01 | I just got it, and even though I just messed with it for a couple of minutes I like it a lot better already. I didn't realize how annoying 8.1 was on a computer. I just got used to the dumb things it did.
I'm one of the few doofs with a Windows phone, but I like the tile system on that, but putting it in the start menu is much nicer.

| #10 Posted on 6.8.15 1401.29 Reposted on: 6.8.22 1404.51 | 10 downloaded to me last night finally.
About twenty minutes to upgrade, and as painless as any upgrade I've ever done.
Had to make just a few changes (one regedit, a switch to where I have Photos stored for the album, and a default program switch), but basically everything else is right where I left it.
The interface is nicer than 7, the machine is noticeably faster, and mostly functions the same. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
