Danny Davis announced that he has sold the promotion and the new owner will be presented at the next Louisville show.

I wish SO MUCH that this was the news of Jim Cornette getting back into the promoting business, but probably not.

I saw the note about this on OVW Wrestling, but then I also looked at the sidebar and saw the last show description and was confused.

Randy Royal is after Ryan Howe and the OVW Television Championship and will do whatever he can to get the title. OVW Heavyweight Champion Eddie Diamond teams with Adam Wylde to take on the War Machine. Plus Danny Davis is visited by an alumnus about the rumors surrounding Danny and OVW.

I don't follow OVW, so maybe someone who does can clarify - the TV preview makes it sound like this announcement is part of an angle. Is it just a storyline, or something that's happening in real life that they're also using on camera?

Only caught part of last week's show but the OVW veteran was I believe "Iron Man" Rob Conway who's promised to help Danny Davis stamp down the latest heel group. I think this is part of an angle, but will try to watch last week's show via DVR to confirm.

End of an era: "Nightmare" Danny Davis Sells Ohio Valley Wrestling
But who to?
July 7, 2015

After 22 years in business and mentoring more than 150 athletes to professional wrestling’s national stage Ohio Valley Wrestling owner Danny Davis will immediately step away from the company he founded.

Monday Davis announced the completed sell of majority ownership in Ohio Valley Wrestling to a private investor. Davis said, “I have been searching for the perfect person to carry on OVW's legacy and I believe I’ve found them.”

OVW launched in 1993 and eventually grew into the developmental training territory for both World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and Total Nonstop Action (TNA) the two largest sports entertainment companies in the United States. Davis’ resume is unmatched. No other professional wrestling company in the world has helped more talent fulfill their dreams on the national stage. Davis played a vital role in coaching the biggest stars in the wrestling industry over the last two decades including John Cena, Brock Lesnar, CM Punk and Randy Orton.

“I want to thank the guys and girls who allowed me to play a part in their careers and the OVW fans for their unwavering dedication.” He said, “I’ve been mulling this decision for several weeks and the time is right for my family to begin a new chapter.”

Davis’ career started in the 1970’s in the old Memphis wrestling territory. He's respected the world over as “The Nightmare” a tag team wrestling expert. On July 4th, Davis teamed with one of his first students, “Ironman” Rob Conway, a former WWE Superstar and multi time NWA World Champion at the OVW Saturday Night Special.

Davis is inviting all fans, media and OVW wrestlers past and present to this Wednesday’s television taping, July 8th, 2015. The new majority owner of Ohio Valley Wrestling will be introduced.

OVW TV takes places in Davis Arena, 4400 Shepherdsville Rd. Louisville, KY. 40218. Doors open at 6:30pm. General admission seats are $5.

They opened the show this week with "Nightmare" Danny Davis saying that he had sold "Majority Ownership" in OVW to longtime announcer Dean Hill (http://www.ovwrestling.com/roster/deanhill).

Dean came out and basically stated that there was a new sheriff in town (which is funny since I believe he's a retired former Louisville Police Officer) and that there would be a few changes in dealing with the various heels in the company.

Not sure if it's permanent but "The Pope" Elijah Burke made his return to OVW as the color man with normal play by play man (and local WDRB anchor) Gilbert Corsey.

Pope was always a good promo, but his commentary work in TNA has been eh at best.

Eh when compared to the average, but 'pretty good' when compared to Al Snow.

Good, more useless "owner" stories.

That's why I assumed it was a "work." It allows Dean to step back from announcer duties and Davis to step back from having to be involved periodically in ring "enforcement"
