I get tired of listening to Pandora or my music on my phone at work.

I've downloaded some Joe Rogan, Norm MacDonald, Marc Meron, Jericho, SCSA, and Colt Cabana podcasts.

What others should I check out?

I think wrestling wise, Jim Ross puts out the most consistent podcast. Now that he's involved in WWE on a limited basis he doesn't seem to be throwing himself a pity party.

Talk is Jericho is also pretty consistently good. He does have the occasional hair band guest, which isn't my thing, but it would be my only complaint.

Austin's two different podcasts can be hit and miss. When he has a good guest, it's great, but you have to be willing to wait between a handful of episodes where he's kinda filling airtime anyway he can.

Sam Robert's Wrestling Podcast is pretty good. He keeps his interviews pretty short and sweet. His shows usually stay close to an hour long.

I tried Flair's new podcast, but I think he interrupts his guests too much to try to get another "partying with the boys" story in.

Taz puts out a lot of shows, but I think he tries too hard to find the negative when he reviews PPVs.

Pete Holmes has "You Made it Weird". He has comedians on, but tends to get deep and philosophical with them. It can be interesting.

Jericho is still my favorite wrestling podcast. Except he just had Great Khali on and I could not understand the guy.

I also still listen to Adam Carolla and Jay Mohr. Old habits.

Some are. Sadly I didn't see Penn Gillette when I searched.

Is Meltzers podcast worth the time, or is it "subscribe to my newsletter to learn more" type i f deal?

For wrestling, all I listen to is stuff from the Observer site (most of which is behind a paywall) and the Justin Shapirshows.

Other stuff:
  • How Did This Get Made? - reviews of bad movies
  • Grownups Read Things They Wrote as Kids - what it says
  • I like 99% Invisible and Song Exploder from Radiotopia. Theory of Everything is hit-and-miss with me but I loved the 1984 episode. Take a look and you might find some neat stuff here. I gather Mortified and GRTTWAK are pretty similar but haven't listened to that one yet.

Agreed. Especially when him and his guest are talking over each other for entire sentences at a time. I had to turn off his interview with Angle halfway through because of that crap.

You need to be a subscriber to the site already to get most of them. Quick reviews:
  • Dave & Bryan: the best of the lot; news and TV recaps and fan questions
  • Dave & Bryan & special guest: all depends on who the guest is. If it's an older wrestler with whom Bryan is unfamiliar, it's good, because he largely shuts up
  • Bryan & Vinny (& ____): who could possibly care anymore
  • Bryan & Lance Storm: amusing for five minutes because Lance is basically the least pleasant human there is - imagine if Grumpy Cat mastered the rolling half-crab - but yeah you don't need to bother with this
  • Bryan & Filthy Tom Lawlor: Never listened to this. Tom's good, though (he's done some shows with both Bryan and Dave that I've heard), so this might be okay
  • Bryan & Todd Martin - on permanent hiatus, but the archives are still up - the worst of the Bryan shows because he goes into full argumentative dickhead mode and Todd tries to have a sincere discussion with him and it just doesn't work
  • Karl Stern: I really want to like his shows but just can't, so dull
  • Josh Nason's Punch-Out: I have never listened to this and likely never will
  • Dr. Keith Presents: excellent if Justin is on; skippable otherwise
  • After Dark Radio: nobody in the history of earth has ever listened to this
  • there are probably others?

(edit to add: Observer Live is so skippable that I forgot about it despite it being a daily show - but yeah, just more Bryan, only in phony professional radio host mode and with idiot callers to boot)

Hoo boy, have my tastes changed.

In addition to the usual suspects (WTF, Never Not Funny, etc.), I'll plug Productive Outs (Ian Miller and Riley Breckenridge, the latter's the drummer for Thrice, talking about baseball and spoonerisms (nobody will ever top the offhanded Hole Camels reference)), U Talkin' U2 to Me? (Scott Aukerman and Adam Scott review U2's catalog, and as expected, it starts out playing it straight before collapsing in on itself), Startup (Adam Davidson follows the launch of his own podcasting company, then follows the growth of a dating website) and Ice-T: Final Level (Ice-T gets a podcast, it's what you expect).

The only one I currently listen to is the Steve Dahl show (it's a subscription but there is a free 10 minutes on itunes). Funny, topical, stream of conciousness.

You Made It Weird is pretty good. I listened to the one with Ellie Kemper and it was hilarious throughout.

I've always been hit or miss on Carolla, but I'll check some of his stuff out just to see if it's a hit, or a miss.

I see two Steve Dahl shows on the list on my app, is there any difference in the two?

Hmmm I don't know. I am a subscriber so I listen on the subscriber app. This is like itunes or something?

I know it can be accessed at Dahl.com - what is current, there is the ten minute thing every day. There are like 10 shows a week from him and other podcasters on the network. years ago, he did another podcast part of a previous radio show so that may still be around. If it says Steve Dahl network it is current. If it says Steve Dahl and Company it is probably older. Hope you check it out - acquired taste for sure, but I have been entertained by the guy through most of my adult life.

I liked that one too. I really liked the Dana Carvey one. It's a long listen, but worth it.

A good recent Carolla one is the one with Adam Ray.

Then of course you've got Marc Maron interviewing that President Obama guy.

Fighter And The Kid with UFC fighter Brendan Schaub and comedian Bryan Callen. It's ostensibly an MMA podcast, but will more often than not have topics and guests that don't have anything to do with the sport. Always good for at least one or two laughs.

For wrestling stuff I like most everything put out through the Voices of Wrestling site. The main shows and the Shake Them Ropes pods are the best regular ones.

I would recommend Nerdist, WTF and Fatman on Batman. And of course, the one in this signature.
