| #2 Posted on 4.6.15 0918.59 Reposted on: 4.6.22 0921.53 | In the age of collections and rereleases, an Uncharted collection for PS4 was inevitable. It includes the first 3 games (though not the Vita one.) Comes out on 10/09 with early access to Uncharted 4, and is upgraded to 1080p/60fps with new trophies such.
I have all three sitting under my TV. I think they're the only PS3 games I didn't resell. I wouldn't mind being gifted Uncharted 4 early access but think I'll live. You should definitely play these games if you have not already.

| #3 Posted on 4.6.15 2309.27 Reposted on: 4.6.22 2320.10 | as had been rumored for a while, Spike Lee is writing/directing the NBA2K16 myCareer mode.
Lee said the game's story centers on a basketball player named Frequency Vibrations, whose personal exploits off the court are just as chaotic as the game on it.
"It's about the trials and tribulations of life on a big stage with the money, fame, temptations, family members, the press, fans, all that stuff," said Lee.
"Frequency Vibrations" and "all that stuff" doesn't inspire confidence, but it still seems worth a shot. The 2K MyPlayer mode has evolved into having story elements to dress it up. My experience with it this year is there's a lot of story elements in the first season, but less after and eventually just feel like a different way of telling you the same information you would've seen already. Different is still good, but there needs to be more drama for a real story mode and Spike Lee will at least bring the drama.

I'm always excited to get Megaman until I remember I'm actually awful at it without some sort of cheat code.

| #6 Posted on 10.6.15 1212.55 Reposted on: 10.6.22 1216.05 | There's a trailer out for the new Ratchet and Clank game ("the game based on the movie based on the game"). There seems to be an effort to spread out some of the big news prior to E3 so it can all get it's moment and not be bundled in with 20 other items. Maybe that's inspired by comic books?
Anyway, they're pushing that this is a game with a lot of new elements, not just (a third) version of the first game. I hope so - I'd like to play a new game but don't want to play the old ones again. Graphics look great. Release date is still vaguely "Spring 2016", but probably around the same (vague) date the movie comes out.
The Kotaku story about how E3 demos/trailers come to be was good - some times levels constructed which won't ever possibly make the same, some times "playthrus" which are actually taped game play with the guy on stage playing along, almost always very tightly scripted events because taking a step in the wrong direction will exposed the unfinished nature of the game.
They also have a helpful guide to when all the E3 press conferences are happening. | Torchslasher

| #7 Posted on 13.6.15 1351.31 Reposted on: 13.6.22 1359.01 | Bought a PS4 off of a friend a few weeks ago, and since my PS3 is dead, I'm stoked to buy the Uncharted series. I played them all, but I'd go back for improved graphics and gameplay. Plus that third game got so amazing from the boat sequence on, and that was just on PS3 graphic capabilities.
I will still stick to the xbox one for the cross platform games, so the PS4 will remain a Nintendo-like platform where I only get first party games like Uncharted 4.

| #8 Posted on 15.6.15 2136.25 Reposted on: 15.6.22 2136.27 | games shown that I wrote down - the Last Guardian, for real. Release date is "2016" - Horizon: Zero Dawn - Hitman - Street Fighter V (only on PS4 & PC, 07/23 beta on PS4 if you preorder) - No Man Sky - Dreams - Fire Watch - the latest Destiny expansion (the Taken King), out 09/15 - Assassin's Creed Syndicate (will have exclusive PS4 content) - World of Final Fantasy (PS4 and PS Vita exclusive in 2016) - Final Fantasy 7 remake (first on PS4) - Shenume III - Batman: Arkham Knight (trailer for the Scarecrow exclusive missions) - Call of Duty: Black OpS 3 (all map packs on PS4 first, beta first in August) - Star Wars will be part of Disney Infinity; - Star Wars: Battlefront - Uncharted 4
non game stuff - some Morpheus stuff - Playstation Vue launching in San Francisco & Los Angeles. Starting later this year, they'll let you buy individual channels.
(and also a lot of quick games)
The Last Guardian, started development in 2007, and was shown at the 2009 E3 for a 2011 release. It's a little late. People have trying to get Sony to admit that it was actually not an ongoing project anymore for the last few years, and Sony's always offered weird denials while refusing to actually talk about it. It's coming. Maybe. Looked good, gameplay video shown.
New Horizon is a post-post-apocalyptic game, where apparently there are machine animals (dinosaur sized?) and hunters hunting them with super powered cross bows and stuff. This worked a little better than it read. Gameplay video shown, but tightly scripted.
Hitman is another Hitman game. Trailer looked great, completely rendered scene.
No Man Sky is still gigantic in scope. Gameplay was demoed. It's described as "trading, fighting, exploring, survival".
I have no idea how to describe Dream. It looks more like a creation platform (like Little Big Planet, same people) than even a game.
Fire Watch is a story first person exploration game?
Assassin's Creed showed a trailer on the female lead, who hadn't been shown as much previously
Final Fantasy 7 remake looks sharp. All pre-rendered but looking as good as anything - not just upgraded to HD, but redone.
Shenume III is being funded via Kickstarter, in theory. Sony would seem to be funding part of it to be putting in the middle of it's E3 presnation and including it as their wrapup trailer.
Star Wars Disney Infinity PS4 will have an exclusive starter pack (will be only way to get Boba Fett), and the figures will be exclusive to PS4 for a month.
The Uncharted 4 gameplay demo actually failed - like the controller didn't wasn't connected or something. Second roll thru (or maybe preshot video) worked better)
There was other news at other press conferences, but I didn't write about any one of those. Common thread was a lot of stuff either had no date or had a date not in 2015.
Also, they apparently announced a new PS4 Media Player on the preshow.

| #9 Posted on 16.6.15 0017.19 Reposted on: 16.6.22 0017.26 | I think I've hit the age where I'd rather most of these be movies or limited run tv series than games I'll never play. Horizon: Zero Dawn and Firewatch both looked super interesting but I know I'll never get around to them.
That said, I've already got my money stashed away for Last Guardian and No Man's Sky.
Ten years ago, I'd be all about the FF7 remake too. I kinda hope they clean up some of the plot when they do. I don't think I ever understood all that Jenova stuff as well as I should have.
SW: Battlefront looked AMAZING. Maybe its all the years of Lucas overusing CGI in the prequels, but that's the closest I've seen a game come to blurring the line between camera footage and gameplay. Did I hear the Wilhelm scream in there?
Need to watch the EA presentation now. I hear there's a new Mass Effect I'm going to need to find time for... | thecubsfan

Other stray thought: Sony might have not wanted the Uncharted collection news to come out exactly how it did, but it feels like it was a designed plan to spread things out. Like someone timed out the E3 presentation, decided they had too much, and purposefully announced stuff like that and the Ratchet & Clank game a few days ahead of time to spread it out. It would've been a 8th/9th bullet item if announced on Monday, but got a day's worth attention by announcing early.

| #13 Posted on 24.6.15 1212.06 Reposted on: 24.6.22 1215.41 | Kotaku has a story on Drive Club PS+, which is now supposed to be out Thursday. The Sony officials are all apologetic, saying it was a gigantic problem with how their servers handled multiplayer, they had to rebuild that all from scratch and re-examine how they handled it for all games going forward but now it's great...and you still got to think it'll crash tomorrow, right?
They must think so. The PS+ version will give offline access to all, but online access to only a (random) select group at first. They're going to slowly bring people online.
My faith in PS and getting internet connections working is a big diminished by having to wait six hours for all the Batman patches to download. Should've been 'only' three, but their server and my PS4 stopped talking to each other for quite a while.
