| #1 Posted on 1.6.15 2209.17 Reposted on: 1.6.22 2213.49 | This show was a lot of logical Elimination Chamber follow-up, but the top angle remains the heel authority nonsense that we've seen done to death. So stop me if you've heard this one before. Roman Reigns goads Seth Rollins into giving Dean Ambrose a rematch, so Triple H and Stephanie McMahon force him to run the gauntlet. My goodness, that's almost as devious as putting him in a handicap match! First up, Reigns beats King Barrett (who should really reconsider his career choice, given how his has gone lately), then he beats Mark Henry, who gave him a heel beatdown post-match. And the final obstacle was Bray Wyatt, with the Authority guys looking on to ensure a clusterfuck finish. Sure enough, the interference kicked in, undoing what was a pretty decent match. Reigns won and the heel beatdown was prevented by Dean Ambrose, who got a massive pop. Reigns cleared the ring and Ambrose wiped out Rollins with Dirty Deeds. There's definitely a big-time feel to Ambrose and The E might have another new star on their hands here.
Meanwhile, both Kevin Owens and John Cena delivered outstanding promos. Owens cut an incredibly cruel heel promo about wanting to teach his kid a lesson about being a John Cena fan by beating the shit out of John Cena in front of him, scathing with jealousy that he's not his kid's hero. Cena came right back with a fantastic promo about what it means to be a hero, delivering true intensity and expressing that Owens represents the type of guy that Cena can't stand. While Owens lambasted Cena's character as cynical marketing, Cena shot right back and talked about why he does what he does and even points to a recovering cancer patient in the crowd, in one of the most tear-jerking moments in a Cena promo ever.
(image removed)
Promos ended with both guys looking to face off, before Owens took his leave. This has blossomed into a fantastic feud and I couldn't be more excited for the rematch in two weeks. This is just MONEY!
That's all I've got. The rest of the show was.......there. Not great, but nothing particularly memorable. The floor is yours.
EDIT: Early word from the tapings is that Samoa Joe and Tyson Kidd wrestled a dark match, in which Kidd got his neck busted legit. If it's the musclebuster, I don't like the prospects of that move surviving.

John Cena always gets the last word though. He came out and yelled and did the Cena thing. He walks on water. He brought up the sick kids. His worst point might have been that if kids bought into the WWE machine they would have Adam Rose and Funkasaurus shirts. He floated all over the place, he shot down Owens points with the usual Cena rhetoric and in the end Owens is kind of a poop head. I had a real problem with Cena tonight. He made that kid's night and that is awesome, but I don't like the way he does this stuff.
At the very least have him respond an hour later. They ruined a great moment and promo by Owens tonight.

With Rusev out, our heels are now the Authority and the New Day. Kinda Kevin Owens, but Cena's the ultimate Tweener at this point, gladly playing face and heel simultaneously. Big Show clocked a heel and then told a champion he would beat him to his face, then channeled his finest Sam Lusko while enjoying a milkshake and didn't go anywhere near the Authority, so he went into cool heel mode (well he WAS in the nWo at one point) which doesn't really count. Big Show cool heelin' it up is something we could all do with more of. Miz, said clocked heel, has always been a goof character who's never been able to accomplish anything by himself in the WWE, so unless he's tagging with a guy who cares (his options would be a man in a Crown and robe wielding a scepter that the fans wanted to cheer for a while OR the man who returned to chants of "you look stupid".

I just wish it wasn't his move on when someone points out Cena is what makes the WWE from being amazing. Granted, that title goes to the Authority since SummerSlam 2013. I love Ambrose, Rollins and getting use to Reigns. Yet, you add Kane, Show and the McMahon-Hemsley memebers into it, its just there.
The WWE went from their best wrestler to their worst with the IC title. It needs to get on Bray ASAP then let him run with it. The Divas should be shot, buried and left for dead in the desert. | Matt Tracker

| #6 Posted on 2.6.15 0955.01 Reposted on: 2.6.22 0956.50 | If they are setting up Reigns winning the MITB and turning heel to use it against brand-new champ Ambrose, last night was a great way to make that heel turn meaningful. He taunts Rollins into accepting a ladder match for the belt the day after Ambrose got a pinfall on him, and then he runs through the midcard heels to establish his own dollar-steak toughness. And that sets up FACE BROCK to finally get his title rematch.
I have no problem with Ryback as the IC champ. He's a midcard face with a chant and a cartoonish presentation, in colors and physique. There are a slew of heels to challenge him. It's just fine.

And uninspired. I don't dislike Ryback either but he's just, there. He doesn't bring any intrigue or excitement to the title. As JayJayDean pointed out in the EC results thread, Reigns was RIGHT THERE. If Rusev being out threw a wrench in any plans (I'm not sure it did, but speculating), why tap Henry? I know him eating a pin doesn't hurt him but shit, this fell into their lap. Legitimize Reigns: 1. Have him go over strong, like shaking caged animal OOOOOOOO-AAAAAAAA last guy in and drop the hammer on everyone. 2. Have him turn on Bryan during the belt ceremony. 3. ??? 4. Profit. Ryback is the least interesting option from the hand they dealt. | CRZ

| #9 Posted on 2.6.15 1454.01 Reposted on: 2.6.22 1459.01 | I'm actually intrigued in the idea of Rusev taking this injury time to come back as a face. Say we get Ziggler slowly turning heel over the next few months by mistreating Lana or taking her for granted, or maybe Lana just loses interest and Dolph can't handle being dumped. Dolph starts badmouthing her in the ring and then Rusev's music hits, and he rushes out to protect her. Sets Rusev up as a major fan favourite and Ziggler as a heel with some actual heat behind him, rather than his directionless midcard face role. | lotjx
