Aero Star was a good choice for the freshly turned Johnny Mundo. He's built up an affinity with the fans through his best of five series with Drago. Mundo did a good job of playing the heel and the crowd booed accordingly. (The Lucha Underground crowd only seems to support the heels who are getting the short end of the stick booking wise (Son of Havoc, Pentagon Jr) unless they really dislike the face for some reason.

Sit down interview with Sexy Star. She's facing Pentagon Jr in a submission match next week. For those not in the know, Sexy Star & Pentagon Jr are co-mixed tag team champions in AAA.

Prince Puma defeats Hernandez in what's being promoted as a co-main event. At least they're acknowledging that the title match isn't where it should normally be on the card. Afterward, Puma thanks God for making the steel chair he smashed Hernandez with. For some reason, it brings to mind Big Show's post-Wrestlemania XXIV speech. "I'd like to congratulate my opponent, Floyd Mayweather, his 7 bodyguards, 14 steel chair shots, and brass knuckles for their victory last night."

Mils Muertes looked much better in his new all black gear than the stupid blue pajama pants he was wearing previously. The match was mostly a brawl and then Muertes hit Fenix with an unprotected chair shot to the head and I turned it off and have no idea who won because I'm not going to support that level of fucking stupidity.

Muerte won after powerbombing Fenix through some kind of platform. After a commercial break, Muerte's deciples dragged Fenix to the ring, Muerte hit his finisher, and pinned Fenix. Afterwards his chick gave Fenix the Lick of Death. I personally enjoyed the main event. Though I haven't been really watching... Are Fenix and Muerte supposed to be somehow the same person?

No, they're polar opposites. Fenix is "The Man That Cannot Die", Mil is "The Man of 1000 Deaths".

This is how Muertes should have been presented to begin with. He sold too much in his early matches, and this match helps make him a beast. The forearm to Fenix's dive was evil.

I'm dismayed by the co-main. It seemed a natural story for Konan to sell out Puma for Hernandez and the belt. Puma is burning through his top contenders really quickly. Is Mundo going to get another shot as a heel? Does Alberto get a face vs. title shot?

Love the Disciples.

Please tell me it wasn't Mr. Cisco. He's my guilty pleasure of Lucha Underground, hell all of wrestling, now that Son of Havoc and Drago have been elevated to the point of not having to feel guilty about enjoying them. The chairshot I can eventually forgive, but not killing Mr. Cisco.

I happened to catch a spoiler, so I know who will be facing off at the "special event" they've announced for August. I have no idea what they're doing in the meantime, however. But with only two months between now and then, the one hour format really works in their favor. Puma only needs to wrestle twice a month at the most, if he retains the title.

That gives him an opportunity to face Johnny Mundo, who absolutely deserves a title shot considering he holds a singles victory over Puma and was pinned by him, to win the title, at Aztec Warfare.

Alberto El Patron also needs to face Puma for the title this summer. He's been hinting about it since day one and the fans would definitely love the match.

Maybe throw in a three-way match between all three of them plus a tag match (Puma & El Patron vs Mundo & Hernandez?) to stir up some bad blood between Puma & Patron and you've got Puma's schedule booked for June & July. The only question is if you have time to squeeze a full Mundo vs El Patron program into that as well, or if they just go ahead and throw Puma straight into that program since his belt is ultimately what the entire feud is about anyway.

I deeply appreciate that the Disciples of Death are three guys they already had and weren't doing anything with. Resource management is the key to building a successful wrestling company from the ground up.

Also, I'm curious as to how storylines are handled between AAA and Lucha Underground. Are they acknowledged when it's convenient and ignored when it's not? I know they did an angle in AAA to explain why some of their stars would be heading to the US. LU has acknowledged the AAA storyline between Alberto El Patron and Texano. But I assume the Sexy Star vs Pentagon Jr feud is being ignored down in Mexico where they're co-champions. (Unless it's one of those instances of wacky tag champions who don't get along.) They obviously ignored the fact that Super Fly lost his mask to Aero Star back in December in AAA, though maybe the taping timing was such that he actually lost it both times in quick succession.

I presume the answer is, as I said, based on convenience and usefulness. Mostly, I'm just hoping cubs will pop in and throw out some tidbits of information about what, if anything, is going on in AAA as a result of LU storylines.

It was Bael - which made sense since he was the guy who hasn't been there the longest.

It's kept purposefully fuzzy right now, even more so in AAA than Lucha Underground. Wrestlers are mentioned as appearing in Lucha Underground, but it's more about promoting them being international stars than following up on any of the storylines.

It's fine for right now, because Lucha Underground isn't on TV in Mexico, and the people are going to seek it out on the internet are the least likely to be bugged about the inconsistency.

The coming issue is AAA's trying to get Lucha Underground picked up by a big over the air network in Mexico - then there's all sorts of continuity issues, but it also would guarantee a second season of LU so AAA would take it. I expect either AAA will completely ignore all the differences between the two programs or do 8 turns on one show to get everything matched up, but I don't think the Lucha Underground storylines will be asked to change anything to match AAA.

(The specific Sexy Star/Pentagon issue has come up lately because AAA's all because Sexy Star hasn't appeared on TV all year, but that's a different story.)

It's impressive that LU is doing such a slow burn with Black Lotus and Dario's Rancor. They've been onscreen for months without getting in the ring.
