So this week was mostly devoted to the tag team title belts, which the Wolves vacated a couple weeks ago due to injury. Tonight 16 teams competed for a spot at Ultimate X in the main event, and it was a pretty good show, even if some of the teams got jobbers who clearly weren't going to win, and the referee in Spud/Anderson vs BDC literally fell for every single dastardly heel tag team trick in the playbook. Amazing how much stomping the referee is able to ignore while he concentrates on yelling at the face.

They also did a fair amount of hyping for next week's show, which is going to feature a celebration of the Knockouts roster, a #1 contender's match, Awesome Kong/Taryn II (I think?), and just so the guys don't feel left out, Angle vs Young for the TNA World title. I have to say, the lack of monthly PPVs means that instead of putting off a match for several weeks and finding a way to have them wrestle without having them wrestle, they can throw the title shots at us with whatever pace they want, and the way Angle's been going, it's a title match every other week or so.

Ultimate X was as it should have been, crazy and chaotic and even more dangerous than a ladder match. EC3's big guy Tyrus (?) did an impressive job of shaking the structure the X-ropes were mounted on, dislodging three people who were hanging from them above the ring. EC3 claimed he couldn't climb the ropes with his arm brace, so instead he brought a ladder into the match and later, tried to grab the belts on Tyrus' back. The Hardys won after killing Low Ki dead, giving them their first TNA tag title reign. I'm pretty sure it's Matt's first belt in TNA, period, though Jeff has been World Champion a time or two.

Wasn't Matt X champ, or am I in the early stages of Alzheimer's?

It's certainly possible. I wasn't able to watch when they were on Wednesdays, and I missed considerable portions of storyline during and before Aces and 8s. It wasn't until it moved to Fridays that I picked it back up. OTOH I know Jeff's been in TNA forever, so it wouldn't surprise me if Matt had done a few runs in TNA while I wasn't looking. Could probably have picked up the X title while he was around.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem like that's the case, according to his Wikipedia page. He did challenge Sting for the World Title at one point, but didn't get the job done and was eventually released after a DUI. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Hardy#Total_Nonstop_Action_Wrestling_.282011.29

Good shows for the past couple of weeks.

I was disappointed to see Sanada get written off last week. I had thought that he had a long term contract with TNA. Him leaving was a surprise. Still, with him gone, each member of the Revolution has a strong character which is good.

Wish Havoc had been present during the Knockouts segment. I fear she's been disappeared as well. Hopefully, her and the other missing Knockouts will return for the Knockouts themed show next week.

Homicide fits in the BDC better than Joe/Low Ki did. I mute the audio when The Rising are on.

Josh Matthews did a surpisingly good job with his solo commentator work this week. But, TNA -really- needs to either keep Josh off camera, or make him start dressing professionally and cover up his tattoos. I know Josh had a cup of tea as a wrestler, but he doesn't have the credibility to dress as if he is a color commentator.

Everything EC3 does is golden now that the Spud feud is over.

The Dirty Heels should reunite full-time. I was expecting them to win the belts.

Sad to see the Bromance get a divorce. The Bro-Mans always seemed to be a stealth super popular team based upon all of the fans wearing their t-shirts.

Probably thanks to all the practice he got when Ernest "The Cat" Miller was his broadcast partner on Velocity.

I have to agree about EC3. That guy just oozes charisma and is crazy natural on the mic. His bit with Bram killed me. "I'm going to rip off Tigre's mask and shove it down his throat!" "GOOD! Make sure we win first!"

Having Angle as World champion and the Hardys as tag champs is a wee little too 2000 WWE isn't it?
