Wow. It felt like they spent more on this one show than Ferguson's entire run.

I see talk about the "new and different" things they did, like having the guests to the host's left, the guests entering through the crowd, and Corden rolling out from behind the desk to do interviews. I guess that's all different if you never saw "Lopez Tonight". (He didn't have a desk, but you get the point.) The guests coming through the crowd just doesn't work on this set. It's too small.

I do find bringing both guests out at the same time and making it a three-way conversation kind of interesting, but I wonder how well that will work with lesser-known guests.

And what's the point of having a bar? "Hey, look! We have a bar! We're doing absolutely nothing with it but pimping a sponsor, but there it is!" Though I guess this means the show is truly up for whatever

I LOVED this show. I'm on Team Corden. This is my man at 11:37.

I do think the "high five the audience" bit is mostly likely to disappear first.

The conversation format seemed kinda Graham Norton-y (DISCLAIMER: I've never really watched Graham Norton nor any other UK talk show) but I like it and think it will work. I like when the guests interact - it reminds me of Carson's show and I always wondered why Dave never used it. A lot of the interim guest hosts had a lot of guest interactions which were fun, although a lot of those were a lot of "friends of the guest host" situations so it might have been more of a crutch there.

BY THE WAY. John Mayer, GREAT guest host. Not sure I'd say best, but most surprising. Jim Gaffigan, WORST guest host easily. Judd Apatow, not bad guest host. The guy I'd never heard of whose name I've already forgotten was surprisingly good (if a bit reliant on his friend Jean-Ralphio). Lauren Graham, delightful guest host, helped greatly by boob tape if you'll permit me a sexist observation. They should have given Aisha all the nights they just did "The Talk" instead. Drew Carey, competent, no opinion. Wayne Brady, delightful, no opinion. Will Arnett, on the DVR. Who'm I forgetting? Oh, Thomas Lennon, would have been better if he hadn't had to constantly plug "The Odd Couple," but would he have gotten the gig if he WASN'T on "The Odd Couple?" Hmmmm.

But back to Corden's show - loved it. The opening bit and all the cameos were marvelous. If I'm greedy, I'm hoping for more from Reggie Watts as the show evolves, although if they come up with a song to close EVERY show I will probably lose my mind from happiness.

There is no chance I'll switch over to Seth. Sorry, Seth!

I need to come up with a show tag for the board although I expect we'll never see another thread about this show again ever, unless it gets cancelled or something.
