I'm finally getting off my rump and working to convert several existing websites to true mobile version. The catch is that these sites have well over 1,000 pages each.

Has anybody had any experience with a similar project?

I've seen several (free and paid) resources online that say they can convert your website to mobile... but in reality all they do is help you create about five new basic pages. If I was starting a new site/app from scratch, that might be okay, but I'm looking at converting existing pages/content. The paid versions of these services say they can support a full website, but I feel the monthly prices are outrageous (anywhere from $19.99 to $349). Reminds me of the 90's, when people would host these new website things for crazy rates.

Any suggestions or resources where I can DIY?
