In case you missed it #GiveDivasAChance was a spin off of the company pushed #GiveTruthAChance and came about because of the giant What The Fuck twenty second match between The Bellas and Emma/Paige which I hope doesn't break poor Emma's spirit.

Well, it's still trending and it's Wednesday. Vince McMahon's Twitter account has responded with "We are Listening" (I'm not going to try and embed that on a phone.)

This is interesting because The Women's matches on NXT have been every bit as good as the men's matches. A lot of the Divas on the Raw roster have taken part in these matches. Add to the fact that Raw can't seem to fill three hours and it seems like a no brainer. We shall see.

First thing I'd like to see is WWE dropping the Divas label, but any improvement will be appreciated. Hopefully they are listening and not just hearing whatever they want.

Edit: Looks like this is in the Raw thread as well.

Roman Reigns!

Following that template, WWE will sincerely address the situation for about a week or two and then go back to whatever they were going to do. The timing of this might mean give the women's match a bit more time at WrestleMania since people will be paying attention, but whatever WWE has to say about this should be completely ignored. Actions speak louder than words.

The main problem with that scenario is that YOUR current Diva's Champion can no way in hell wrestle an NXT Women's match.

The faux grassroots hashtag campaigns is the complete opposite from challenging wrestlers to grab the brass ring. If the universe's outcry incites change, that doesn't alter the fact that those kind of matches or performances were considered acceptable by whoever plans them backstage. NXT proves that WWE can produce better.

I hope that Vince sticks to his guns and gives everyone the middle finger by killing the NXT divas division instead of improving the WWE divas division.

Not that I don't want good women's wrestling. I think the first post I ever made on this board was about improving the divas division, over a dozen years ago. But the chances of me being entertained by Vince McMahon telling people to go fuck themselves are far better than the chances of a sustained divas push.

(Okay, that's not true. It was my second post. I just checked and my first post was about lucha libre. The most useful information was provided by cubs. Thirteen years later, I'm recapping a lucha libre show with cubs correcting everything Wikipedia lies to me about. The more things change, the more they stay the same.)

Now this is a movement I can support. It's the final evolution of a wrestling fan: when you have gained enough EXP to be able to watch the product solely to be entertained by Vince vigorously thrusting his middle finger at those Internet fans who are stuck in their non-evolving pattern of caring. They're all just grinding away, week after week, hoping that their efforts pay off in the form of a completely satisfying product. (but who am I kidding? Internet fans are never completely satisfied.) I'm going to try this new method next Monday.

There's the big problem. As long as The E is prioritizing junk like Total Divas and making The Bellas and their ilk the face of the division, there's no chance for any kind of change. Remember, Paige and Emma were putting on fantastically entertaining matches in NXT a year ago and now we barely see Emma on TV at all and Paige is just hanging out as the Challenge of the Month.

I'm not sure that's entirely true. Nikki Bella has gotten a lot better and has been working a nice little power offense. I like Bayley and Becky Lynch, but let's be honest Nikki Bella is just as good as both of them right now and they were just in the last NXT Women's Title match.

Perception is as big a problem as anything right now. The Bellas get blasted around here a lot, but if you really stop and think about it everyone's darling Paige hasn't really set the world on fire with her workrate since being called up.

Presentation is the other problem. Bayley and Lynch just had an okayish match on NXT. They have defined characters and were given a fair amount of time to work their match and got to be taken seriously by the announcers. On Raw everyone gets crammed into one segment where only the champion and challenger have any kind of character and everyone else falls on one side or the other with no rhyme or reason.

This is just really a long winded way of saying that maybe Paige and Nikki have a weaker match because of their environment and after awhile we don't even notice any improvements because the show doesn't take the time to notice them. They're busy yelling at each other. Meanwhile Becky and Bayley have a match of the same caliber, but it was taken seriously and presented like a competitive wrestling match and ta-da. Nikki sucks-Bayley rules.

I'll give you that Nikki has definitely improved. I was actually pretty impressed with her match against Paige at Fastlane, except it ended at what should have been a halfway point. It's like they scripted two pages of moves, and then just threw in a finish at the end of page one and tossed out the second.

Brie, on the other hand, is just ... awful. They're both pretty horrible on the mic, but only Brie could take all the sympathy and goodwill she got off of being married to the absent Bryan, and squander every bit of it. It didn't help that her storyline with Stephanie and Nikki was horribly written, and Stephanie is the biggest fucking Mary Sue in the history of WWE, so nobody can ever come out on top if they decide to feud with her.

I agree that most of the problems with the Divas as a whole is not that the talent level is lower than TNA's (while I don't think anyone they have right now could outwrestle Gail Kim, she's a well-seasoned veteran than WWE has no equivalent of), it's how they're presented. The Knockouts (and from what I hear, the NXT women) have actual storylines, and actual matches. Yeah, you'll get the occasional run-in, and screwjob endings always suck, but you'll never see anything remotely like this week's 20-second abomination, and the girls have actual personalities even if they're not the champion or Challenger of the Month. Plus TNA isn't afraid to make use of ... larger body types, let's say. Look at Havok and Awesome Kong. Nikki might go for a power offense, but either of them would crush her like a bug.

Absolutely. I have never understood the love for Paige, Emma, Beth Phoenix, or Natty in the ring. They're hyped to be the second coming of [insert your favorite worker], so they're given a lot more leeway than the Bellas while performing just as shitty on the main shows. In all honesty, I would rather watch The Bellas do shitty Bella things ten times out of ten than watch Emma do her dumb dance and show no emotion. The other problem is that they're not playing on neutral territory. The NXT women are held in higher esteem because those who watch NXT are rabid about "their" stars. This is where the ECW comparison becomes more valid. The Bellas, in fairness, came into this whole thing with a very limited skill set that started and ended with looking hot and being bitches. From where they were to where they are is actually a big leap. But I don't have to like them.

I was watching The Network and they were talking about the women of the Attitude Era. They interviewed Nikki and she said something to the effect of "I think it's degrading that they wore what they wore at that time and had to be in bra-and-panties matches." And then I watched FastLane and saw what she was wearing. How is it any different? Booty shorts and tops that are two sizes too small for what they have to hold in are just as provocative as anything Sable or Sunny ever wore.

Again, absolutely. But the WWE did take a chance Kong for a bit and they were doing something different, interesting, and compelling with her. She got super strong reactions, then she went off the deep end. I feel as though her signing, and subsequent push, was a HHH decision and since it went so sideways, something like that is never happening again as long as VKM is around.

I prefer that the Bellas have as little time as possible, so twenty seconds didn't bother me.

If the match had featured, say AJ and Paige, I would have been disappointed.

And, yeah, I know that the Bellas have "improved". They're still pretty bad. The main roster wants reality stars, wives, "girlfriends", and eye candy.

At the end of the day, as a fan I've been conditioned to not care about women's wrestling. All it will require, however, is a good match and I'll care. But, until wrestling is more important than being a vapid reality show idiot, that may not really happen.

Bayley rules because of all the little things she does aside from "workrate". All the things she does and can do during and outside of matches that Nikki doesn't or can't. Nikki has improved in the ring, yes. But on commentary and promos, she is godawful terrible. Your statement that Paige hasn't exactly set the world on fire is pretty much backed up by your next noting that they aren't given the proper time on the show to work, so go figure that she looks worse than she did in NXT. Same for Emma; they brought her up and saddled her with the dumb Santino storyline and no character development.

The comparison question your argument raises to me would be - could Nikki go to NXT and perform for a prolonged period down there as well as the NXT gals have been? My bet is no.
